I just received an E-mail from an interested party for one of my listed movies, asking me to check the tape if one of the descriped episode is really on the tape.
I checked and the person was right, the episode was not on the tape. Before listing I checked the quality of the tape but did not pay attention to the titles of the episodes and took the description off the moviebox.
I have some people already bidding on this tape, so what do I do?
Contact each bidder and explain the mistake?
Add this to the item description?
Cancel the whole auction?

you cant add to the description since it has a bid already. I would contact the bidder tell them of the mistake and inform them you will take their bids off. after all the bids are erased change the description. Then they can bid again if they like. that may save you from a even larger headache down the line.

You can add to the auctions description after it has a bid. (You can't revise it after bids are placed)
I would just e-mail the current bidders and offer to cancel their bids if they are unhappy, then add to the description in BOLD letters to make sure the new bidders know what they are getting.
Try this: <center><font color=red size=+2><b>PUT THE CHANGES HERE</b></font></center>

I would end the auction early re list the item correctly and send each bidder a e-mail with the new auction url and your reson.
I had a similiar situation where I had put the wrong revision number in my item descreption someone had bid before I could revise the descreption I added the correct descreption in bold, red headlines. and e-mailed each bidder as the auction progressed sure enough at auction end somone snipped didn't read the whole add ...He refused to pay as it wasn't as described and I wound up relisting......save yourself the time and trouble and do it now.

I messed up the same way -- and a "looker" discovered the error. The first thing I did was Add to Description with a correction.
Then I sent an apology/ notice of update with a link to my current high bidder, requested guidance as to if they'd like to continue with their bid. As an aside, the high bidder did increase her bids AFTER my note to her, though she did not win.
The two under bidders also received Short Notes apologizing for my failure to better describe the item along with a link back to the updated auction.
The fellow who originally noted the error ended up as high bidder. I did thank him for pointing out the discrepancy. His assistance allowed me to correct an error, and have everyone satisfied. Tossing in post auction, free postage for him was a tangible way of saying "thank you".......
