Today I had 2 emails from Sellers charging me a fee AFTER the auction closed for using Paypal. Wasn't there a big deal with the oil and gas companies doing that regarding the Fair Trade Act? Credit sales pay one price, cash pays another. I am not making a big deal, no problem to pay the extra, I just don't like those kind of surprises after an auction has ended. If the seller had put it in the handling fees I think the seller would be "safer". What do ya'll think? Thank you for your input and comments

There is no excuse for a seller adding a fee that is not mentioned in the auction and it is against ebay rules whether it is paypal or anything else. I would contact the seller and inform them that if this fee is not removed I would be contacting ebay. Event though you have the right to go straight to ebay, it's kind of like the kid who was always telling the teacher. It certainly won't get you anything. Your best bet is to try and work it out with the seller first.

Remember it REALLY does cost more to use a credit card than it does to use cash. Is it fair for those who chooose to pay cash to pay the same inflated price as those who pay with a credit card.
The credit card companies have enourmous power but the fact is CASH DISCOUNTS ARE ALLOWED
If the seller did not offer PayPal is his auction description then I think it is OK to charge you the fee if you ask to pay that way. But if he did offer it in the auction description then he cannot demand the fee unless it use explained in the description as a cash discount.
