I don't know what it is, but it is pretty. Looks like a rose.

That piece looks interesting. Is it a lamp? Or a burner/warmer of some sort? (I'm wondering about the metal ring around the base). How tall is it? Does it have any marks on the underside? Can you show a photo of the underside? With more info, perhaps someone can locate this in their pottery books and help you out.

dimensions are: 4 1/2 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter...i really think that the stand that goes to the red one is not the original stand and is is a little big for it

I'd say they are planters--the metal stands are typical of a couple of California pottery makers--Miramar comes to mind. There is a "collectors' encyclopedia" out there for CA pottery, but it deals mostly with the art pottery type stuff and dinnerware, rather than the massed produced decorative things like this. You might be able to find out from it who marked their items with just "Made in California" and a number. I know I just had a bidder buy a small pottery planter in a metal stand who was rather upset because she couldn't find the "287" that the description stated was impressed on the bottom. Apparently that was a critical point in ID'ing the piece. (The mark was there, but she was looking for a "stamp" rather than a glazed over impression.)
