I hope someone else is up ! A awoke to this email!
Hello,
I have never been in this situation before and I thought that perhaps writing to you and explaining things might be the place to start. I own a small bookstore and we are currently trying to create a small inventory of special books, mostly signed additions and older "classic" editions. I very much wanted this book. Since the time that I made this bid, I have been lucky in securing several books in that genre. I am way over budget for this particular project. I have no idea if it is possible to withdraw a bid or under what circumstances it is appropriate. I certainly do not want to create any negative feedback and if absolutely necessary I will honor the bid that I made. It is possible that I will be outbit anyway. Is the appropriate thing to do to wait and see if my bid wins anyway? I know it is possible that I won't win. As I said I am not familair with this procedure and I thought I would start by explaining the situation to you. My bookstore is very small and w!
e have really had to pinch pennies. We have only been open since December and we have opened on a very tight budget. Plus in the excitement of finding your adorable book I did not realize that it would be an international order, which of course costs more for the money order and more shipping, and extra postage, and all that. I know you are aware of all those sorts of things.
I will be waiting to hear from you. As I said, rather than create negative feelings I will honor the bid. It will just create a problem for me and so I thought I would ask you what your feelings were. And as I said, I am new at this and I really do not know what the procedure is for withdrawing a bid. I am hoping that you can explain the procedure to me and let me know whether or not it is possible in this situation.
Thank you very much. I appreciate any help that you can give me.
Hi guys! I am usually a lurker, but I have learned lots from reading these boards and I hope you can help.
OK, She already has emailed me once regarding postage and was told she only has to pay extra postage if she wants it Airmail. But anyway thats beside the point. My question is, how does she retract a bid? I have never done it before. And do you think it will adversely affect the outcome of the auction? As she says it is a fairly rare book and probably will get other bids, but if she retracts I am concerned it will scare others away. Or should I cancel her bid? Or will that get her in trouble with Ebay? Or should I just pretend I didn't get the email in time and see how things unravel, and if she does win just file a FVF stating we agreed not to complete the transaction and relist?
HELP!!
I am one confused Chiquita!
