Hi,

I am looking for a little help. One of my auctions ended today and I have tried to email the high bidder twice. Both emails were returned as undeliverable saying that this email address is not known. It is the bidders ebay ID as well as their registered email addy at ebay. I realize maybe they are just having email problems and I intend to wait and see what happens. My question is what do I do if this continues to happen and I cant contact them? Should I notify ebay that this persons email addy is unvalid?

I checked the persons feedback and they got a neg in the last week for not responding to sellers emails. Also, they are currently bidding on about 20 or so other auctions. Ive just never had this happen and any input would be appreciated

Hi,

I had this happen to me and I just pulled the contact info and gave them a call.

He turned out to be a very good bidder, just never got around to changing his email with Ebay.

I checked his feedback a couple weeks later and he still hadn't changed it!

But it turned out fine...he paid quickly and gave me his address and new email address.

On the other hand...after having the exact same problem and after trying to e-mail the seller by using the "email this item to a friend" link in the auction and by asking friends to forward the emails to me, I finally pulled their contact info and called them only to find the number given was bogus. They were NARU'D after I reported them for false info.

I would try the link in the auction and then call them to make sure they are not a deadbeat. Good luck.

Hi ziggydog,

I figured thats what I would do if I cant get in touch with them. I hope its just some email trouble on his end.

You know what else was strange? The returned mail message had 2 reasons why it wasnt delivered. The first said that his email address would not accept email from this sender ( meaning me). Then the second reason was that the email addy was unknown. It was an aol address...is that normal? I am on webtv and I know I cant block someones email. Is it possible to do that with aol? I really hope Im just being paranoid hehe. Thanks for the help

Hi - I have AOL and had the same problem this a.m. contacting an AOL bidder whose Ebay user id was the email address. I'd used her address earlier this week and it worked fine. I got an error message three times today saying something to the effect of "not a known member"- the fourth one went through (definitely as she replied)! AOL glitch of some kind...keep trying!

Thanks kiki2. The whole thing is just fishy to me. I wouldnt even be worried about it if it wasnt for the neg for non response. So say I find out he is a deadbeat..do I still have to have ebay send a non paying bidder alert to a false email addy in order to get a credit? Thanks again for the help

Sandee22: Unfortunately yes, if they are a deadbeat with false info you STILL have to have eBay send them a NPB notice and wait the 10 days before you can file for fees. It is totally ridiculous and don't get me started on what I think of the entire NPB/FVF mess

Hi kiki

Yep that is totally ridiculous. Oh well I guess I could wait the ten days if it comes to that. Thanks for the help
