Several months ago, a few people were opening Fed-Ex Home Delivery accounts. Could you comment on their service? Thanks for any information. Emerson

Back at that time I called Fedex. They were very helpful. They said they would send me some info and shipped me tons of boxes, labels, envelopes, about a whole garage worth. The only thing they didnt tell me is how do I got about using these. Since they charge $10 for a pickup, I dont think I'll be calling them. Otherwise I have to drive these to a store in the mall that will ship for me but I can only guess at what it will cost and how easy it will be to prove shipping if someone at the store messes up. I wish they had just sent me some info first and waited for me to sign up before sending all this other stuff. In the meantime I'm sticking with USPS.

I called fedex and asked at their dropoff counter and they told me the home delivery is just another part of ground. they also said you cannot use their boxes tape etc. for ground service. do the boxes they sent you say home delivery or express. if they say ground or home delivery what number did you call.

I didnt open every one of the many cartons they sent but the ones I did all seem to be the regular fedex boxes which I would never use to ship due to the cost.

i used them several times each time the shipping cost was higher than i figured from their website.
add ons ect.
I gave up and decided to stick with usps at least I can quate accuratley
I also thought it was strange that they wouldn't accept my fedex account for payment but wanted me to fill out all kinds of extra paperwork. I have had a fed-ex account for ten years.

I use Fed-Ex ground for pickups at my business. I was using UPS.
I have found their rates to be better than what I was quoted on the website for the most part. I will use Fed-Ex if I have several packages going out in one week. $10.00 charge is for the week - not each pickup - in fact, I was only charged $7.00 for each week.
I had only one problem and it was a package that got stuck in transit. Luckily my buyer was very savvy and contacted FedEx and got them to UNSTICK IT.
I find them to be very reliable and although their website was a little much to get around, once you do figure it out, it works great.
I also shipped very fragile items through them. They arrived safe and sound. The buyers told me the box didn't even have so much as a crease in it. Definitely not the same handling procedure as UPS.
I tried to get some information about this service from FedEx.
I sent and email and it went unanswered for about a week. Finally I got a response from someone at Fedex apologizing for the delay, telling me she had been sick! My first thought was, is she the only one that works there?
She asked for my phone number and address and promised that someone would contact me quickly.
That was about 2 weeks ago now. I'd like to try there service...it seems very comparable, maybe even a little cheaper, than the daily pickup I have now with UPS.
But I'm not going to chase them for the info!
BTW, I noticed on their website that they can now deliver to 70% of the country. Does anyone know how that compares with UPS?

Since the post office raised their rates, I have switched almost exclusively to FedExGround or Home Delivery. If you ship enough, they pick up every day, no more gas charges to post office, they bill you, no pay when ship but 15-30 days to pay, you have a tracking number to follow all your packages. It is automatically insured for up to $100.00. They also provide us with a free computer setup including printer for shipping. Its not all perfect though - promise 1-5 days delivery rather than within 3 days, no free USPS boxes and tape but I do like it. Rannie Vernon - ranvern
