I saw a coat I like up for auction. A size was given (20) but no measurements. I *really* liked the coat so I actually emailed the seller asking for measurements, especially the "bust and hips". So I just got a response -
"this coat will fit a size 20 with ease"
Well, what the heck does that mean!!! I want measurements!!!
(You have to realize I once spent $170 on a coat that 'fit a size 20' - needless to say, it did not. And - no - it wasn't me - it turned out that it was European size and actually equalled about an American size 14. Seller wouldn't refund - I still have the coat hanging in a closet.)
This is a nice winter wool coat with a reserve of $90. I'd actually bid on it if I was sure it would fit. But heck - I'm not going to bother writing the seller again. There's lots of coats out there.

How about the flip side? Potential bidders that ask questions and sometimes even request additional photos, that naturally you have to take from scratch and process. All the while knowing that maybe 10% of these "potential" bidders will place a bid at all.
Don't get me wrong. I answer all inquiries and try hard to give the details they need. I want the 10% of people that do bid. Unfortunately, I know from experience that the other 90% are wasting my time.

I hate when sellers don't reply in a timely fashion. I am waiting right now to hear back from one who has an auction I'm interested in. The auction ends in an hour or so. I emailed the seller hours ago.

I always answer questions too, but have you thought about this. Not everyone is on line 24/7. My son has auctions and he can only answer questions that come in before he goes to work or when he comes home. That leaves ten hours when he can't answer questions! He's never had a complaint but someday he figures he will. Think about it.

Asking for measurement on an article of clothing that you cannot try on is not at all unreasonable. There will be another coat, sold by someone willing to measure it.
