Not good stories yet, but with the weather warming up, you can bet the yard and garage sales will start! We moved to a new neighborhood during the winter and I can't wait to see what treasures my neighbors will be selling.

I am so ready. My daughter and I went to one last month ( Like to froze my fingers off that day). We've found a few the past 2 weeks here, but no major items to be had yet. I do think we have my 2 year old granddaughter hooked on them. All winter she has been BEGGING to go to yard sales. Thank goodness we found two this weekend when she was with. Nothing for selling, but she made a killing in stuff *LOL*

I am considering going to a physician for treatment for tag sale withdrawal...

It is so bad, I even ventured to the library the other week just to peruse their "sale books" table. I have been pleased to find, though, that along with their ex-library books they also stack up books that folks donate that won't get put into the stacks (meaning pristine new books never read or opened or stamped) yippee!

Guess I have to go back, because one book I bought for a quarter I sold recently for $20.00 at auciton

I'm chomping at the bit for the sales to start here... unfortunately, for the past few years they haven't really gotten going until at least June if not July! We're going on vacation next month to NC, so hopefully I'll be able to hit my first sales of the year

Forgot to say I'm in the northeastern US!

Here in NE Ohio the weather is still pretty dreary (at least this minute, could be different next minute) but I noticed a few ads cropping up for garage and yard sales. I'm going to one tomorrow morning. And a library book sale Friday morning!

Over the weekend, a local Boy Scout troop held a rummage sale at a nearby church. I bet they were amazed at the number of people who showed up. It started at 8:00 and I got there at 8:03 and the parking lot was nearly full. I parked across from a van who's vanity license plates read "MY EBAY"! There really wasn't anything that great at the sale, but that didn't stop people from buying. Only the troop leader was taking the money and he was overwhelmed. With ebay fever running so high, I think a rummage sale would be a great money-maker for an organization right now.

Don't get me started on Yard Sales. People around here seem to think that their junk is made out of gold. Goodwill is cheaper..

i'm in southern california so you would think that people would have them all year round here, well they do, but there are only a few so it's not really worth going out. but wait until spring that is maybe April or May and then they are EVERYWHERE!! I am having withdrawals.

One good thing, though, is that I now travel between several different locations for my job and there are thrift stores in the close vicinity of each one that i have never seen before. i walked to one today and bought something cool for a buck on my lunch hour. new thrift stores are almost as good as yard sales.

I cant wait! I've always loved tag (yard) sales but this year I am going to make it a point to invest and really shop to resell. Another great thing is if you find larger stores going out of business. A major discount store near me went under and I purchased an entire inventory of a certain kids show on video. I got each video for 80 cents and am now selling them for about $5 each. Doesnt sound like much but I'm talking ALOT of videos here : )

I can hardly wait! Maybe I'll find more items this year like I did last year...pay $5 to $10 for them can't GIVE them away on eBay for a buck! I think I need to polish up my "research BEFORE garage-saleing" skills! Maybe this year I'll find an authentic copy of the Declaration of Independence on the back of a grubby painting of George Washington!

Ooohhhh..I just went to my 1st REAL home garage sale after a whole winter of going through the local thrifts & some church rummage sales..
Hubby & i saw a big garage sale sign & followed the arrows (mind you this was on a WEDNESDAY!)

Thrilled to find a on of very old dr seuss books & other great kids collectible books on sale for .50 each!

I even had to drag my hubby away from the sale as he was taking too much time looking. I just couldn't wait to go home to research my stash!

Spent $20..went home & researched the stuff & was pleasantly surprised to see that these things could fetch in well over $400!

I am so excited!!!!

Spring is in the air...

I just went to my first real estate sale for the year didn't find much for me. But if there is anybody out there who's in Connecticut or NYS, and sells adult material this guy who apparently died at a very old age had magazines and books back to the 40's, I'm sure there's a market for some of that stuff but I don't have the nerve to walk out with it much less deal with the type of people into heavy pornography and S&M stuff. Lots of old regular books but he didn't take very good care of those. The house was so jammed they only did the top floor this week, next week is more my thing, glass, dishes, post cards and apparently a lot of coins and stamps. The house was built in 1900 and the family has always lived there and apparently never thrown anything out. VERY INTERESTING!!

could you pin down the location a bit more? Living on Long Island, I am close to both NYS and Connecticut -- and I am not too bashful to purchase ANYTHING that will make my family money! And if I won't go there, my brother will likely make the trip - he's even more of a treasure hound than I am.

LOL - feel free to email me at [email protected] with address...

I am going to hit the garage sales for the first time this year - once they start up (too wet and rainy in NE riGht now) - dunno if I'll find anything worth selling - because I am a rookie, but you never know. 8)
