I guess it had to happen eventually!
I have a couple hundred different searches bookmarked, most tweaked to perfection (using all the delimiters - quotes, the minus sign, asterisks, etc). Many of the searches I had limited to specific sub-categories ("Search only in Books:Magazines:Household:Vintage"). I did most of these over a year ago, using the old search method.
Now when I try to pull up one of my searches, I get a page that says this:
002 /ebaydesc: Can't open source file /usr/local/etc/httpd/htdocs/ebaydesc: No such file or directory
- - - - -
It was maybe a year ago when they introduced the "new" search engine - I don't like it!
I want the "search results" page to show the newly-listed items first, and for it to show the day that the auction ends. You can have the "new" search engine show newly-listed items first, but it doesn't show the day the auction ends -- it shows you the date the auction began, the "Start Time" ! ( ---> Does anyone have a need for the search page to list the "Start Time" of the auctions??)
Now it looks like I'm gonna have to go and re-do all my bookmarked searches. I still want the results page to show the newly-listed items first along with the date the auctions end, so I think I'm stuck using the old search method. But with the old search method, it's no longer possible to narrow the search to sub-categories like you could before. (You can tell it to search only in the "Music" category, but you can't limit it to the subcategory "Reggae." )
Unless somebody here has a suggestion on how to get the "new" search engine to do what I want it to do? Maybe edit the URL in some way to get the page to display the day the auction ends instead of the "Start Time," while still showing the newly-listed items first? Any ideas?

Hi, your not the only one.......I keep getting that page and then if I try the same bookmark a couple of more times it will start working, at least so far.

Yeah ... "old" search bookmarks? I've been getting that error message intermittently over the last week or so, and hitting "refresh" a few times has usually eventually yielded the page -- but tonight, almost none of my searches will work, and "refresh" isn't fixing it. Dang!

Well now some searches I've bookmarked using the "new" search method aren't working.
I used the "new" search method to bookmark some searches in the Mature category. Every time I try to pull one up, it shunts me over to the Adult Login page. I log in (and Netscape is set to accept cookies!), re-do the search, and there I am, back at the Adult Login page. I tried pulling up some items I had bookmarked in the Mature section and it worked just fine. Just the bookmarked searches don't seem to be working.
What is the deal??? It's going to take me several days to re-do all these bookmarked searches. That's valuable time that I could be using to shop!! This bites!
Do you suppose it has to do with all the fiddling eBay is doing with their system to make it more difficult for third-party services (like vrane) to interact with them? If so, they're just making the system more difficult to use, period!
@%$&*#$$!!

I've been experiencing the same problem. Doing the refresh thing. Gets old fast.
I'm growing tired of the constant tweaking of the system, changing things that don't really need to be changed, no doubt the result of make-work assignments within the eBay tech department. All it ever accomplishes is to hamper our use of the system.
