Good Morning All;
Here's my question I find myself not putting up more than 20 new items or so per week. I used to do more but let's not go there. Would I be better off launching a batch of 100+ items once a month? All my items are unique, there's not a lot of repeat sales. Would buyers get nervous if I 'disappeared' for a couple of weeks a month.
I did notice in the past that the more listings I had (even relists) the more page views and more sales.
What do you all think, does anyone do something similar??

I don't do that much selling by any means, but as a buyer I don't want to scroll through that many pages of auctions to see what a sellers has (I'll go through maybe 2 pages at most)--JMHO.

Same here. If you want to make multiple sales to a buyer at the same time, list similar items and keep the number manageable so the bidder doesn't have to work too hard to see if you have anything else they want!

I agree with all of you on that point that is why I have had 'My Auction Gallery' for some time. A buyer can see all of my items on one page and scroll down to whatever looks interesting. So I think I have that part covered. My limit is about two pages as well, but if there is a gallery I'm happy to scroll through hundreds of items if I don't have to do a lot of clicking.

Jayadiaz, if you decide on 20 or so per week, how about putting something on your description page that says "I list new items every week! Bookmark my auction page [make it clickable] and visit it frequently for great bargains on top-quality widgets."
You could repeat the link in your EOA, and even offer a shipping discount to repeat customers (it's probably against eBay's rules to offer that in your auction description).

Always have auctions running so people can keep checking back. If you stop selling for a couple weeks they think you went out of business.

This is an interesting question. The answers depend largely on what fields you sell in and where you sell from.
After just over a year or so of selling I have been giving this a lot of thought recently, particularly as I intend to make this full time.
For me, I sell mainly collectables and antiques. Almost every item is different and each takes time to pack. Packing this sort of item takes much longer than say slipping a CD in a mailer.
Also, based in Australia, a major consideration is cost of shipping. Most of my buyers are in the USA, so it is important that my item is competitively priced and desirable enough to warrant a US buyer willing to pay the shipping involved.
It is not in my interests to sell low dollar value items. I will not be competitive with similar items on the buyers home turf.
My time is best spent on listing 10 to twenty good items a week rather than a hundred or so low end items.
It takes just the same amount of time and effort to list a low end item as it does a high end item, so fewer high end items are the way for me to go.
I like to list so that I have auctions closing twice a week. I feel that by doing this and using a Gallery page, makes it more likely that my auctions receive fairly continuous exposure, rather than being lost in the mid-auction doldrums.
It boils down to individual choices. Your location, type of goods and commitment will dictate to you your best and most profitable approach. The most important thing is to keep an open mind and not be afraid to try something new. You also need to be honest with yourself and your methods. Just because you list something on Ebay doesn't mean that buyers are going to buy it. To do well you have to work at it.
Good Luck.
Bob, Downunder but never down.
I usually list approx 80 to 100 items a month. I always just list them when I have time. Therefore, I always have auctions running and things just move along at a nice pace.
Well, in December or January I had some crazy idea. I thought that if I listed everything all at once, I would be finished for the month. So, I spent two days listing and listing. After that, smooth sailing. Figured I could sit back and relax for the rest of the month. WRONG...Its a miracle I didnt get myself a neg over it. Pure Chaos.
Never again. Went back to my old way of doing it. Whenever I get time is when I list. Much easier and a helluva a lot less stressful...
