I thought the purpose of the "new" Buy It Now
feature was to pay for and therefore RECIEVE your items faster. However I have noticed that a lot of sellers just take thier time to contact you " still waiting 2 days later" on a few". I mean really one guy e-mails me he is on vacation and will ship my item when he gets back in town monday " this was wensday" Hey fine but don't use BIN if you are not going to be around to give fast service. that is why I use the BIN is to get stuff fast.Is it just me? I think if I Buy It Now! Seller should Ship It Now!

I can see that but it also is useful even if the object is not to get your hands on it quick but to not need to track it and keep changing your bid if someone else wants it. Not everyone is thrilled with the auction game - some just want to buy it and not tie time and attention up to do so.

I agree with you all the way.
I am a seller and when I list a item on BIN
I find that buyers BIN and vanish in the dust. I hear from them a week later and I receive their payment 2 weeks later.
I list it as BIN so I can get it over and done with quick. But like " gravid " stated... I think lots of buyers think that way also, so I stopped using BIN and just list for 5 days....

There was a thread that touched on this subject back about a month ago I think, and I was amazed at the differences of opinion as to what BIN meant from the viewpoint of buyers and sellers!
As a buyer, I use BIN because it says "Buy It Now" not next week! WHEN I use BIN, I always use a payment service and make instant payment! That should be a clue to MY seller.....I want it NOW!!!!!
So as a buyer my vote goes to seller should ship as soon as payment is received! If that isn't convenient for the seller, they should not list it BIN!
If I am not in a hurry, I'll just bid the opening bid, bump it up by the minimum, one bid at a time or wait until the last few seconds and snipe hoping for that "buy of a lifetime"!!!

If you are using BIN and the seller contacts you two days later, isn't that still faster than waiting 7 days for the auction to end plus the two days for the seller to contact you?

I've used BIN in some of my listings, and it does seem the majority that use the Buy it Now, send a check or money order. Which is fine. But like someone else said, when I use BIN, I pay for it with Billpoint or an online payment, I guess, because I want it faster. I mean thats part of the point, isn't it with 'Buy it Now', I thought?
There is some BIN customers of mine, who haven't sent payment, and its been 2 weeks or so, and no payment yet. [email protected]

i am mainly a seller but I often buy using buy it now. I don't use BIN to get an item faster, I generally use it to keep other people from getting something I want. Like when I saw a book I wanted that is in demand, so I grabbed it with BIN before anyone else could run the price up higher. So once I have won it, I'm not worried anymore about losing it, and I will pay promptly, but not neccessary instantly. I think promptness in both buying/sending payment and selling/mailing packages is very important, VERY important, but "instant" shipping and "instant" paying isn't necessary. I ship within 48 hrs of receiving payment and I mail pmt to a seller within 48 hours as well......
