We hope this was a MISstatement on the AB - that "In accordance with our Outage Policy, Listings ending during this time will not be eligible for credit." Should that not read AUTOMATIC credit? Has ebaY suddenly changed their policy to provide credits for outages when users request them????? -TAG

The eBay site was unavailable between 16:51 PST and 17:32 PST and from 19:15 PST to 19:35 PST this evening. Intermittent availablity of Category Listings pages occurred between 17:32 and 17:45, and Item pages also experienced brief episodes of intermittent unavailability between 18:00 and 19:15 though the periods of unavailability were short in duration. Some community members from specific ISPs could not reach eBay (except for the home page) from 18:15 to 20:35 PST.

Engineering worked to restore access for all members as quickly as possible and the issues were resolved at approximately 20:32 PST.

In accordance with our Outage Policy, Listings ending during this time will not be eligible for credit. You may review the eBay System Outage Policy by clicking "Help" then "Rules and Safety" from the Navigation Bar, or by going to this URL:

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

eBay

Misprints, misstatements, out right lies...what's the difference? I really like how they try to make it sound like those having the longest loss of access (and who, therefore, would normally be eligible for credit) were from 'specific' ISP's only. It's your ISP's fault, not ours!

And if you ever did get a credit (has this really been done, ever, or is this just an urban myth?), what do you get? A couple of bucks, maybe five? Wow. That ought to make it alright that somebody's $350 item sold for $45, right? I mean, their hearts in the right place, huh. The truth of the matter is they've had problems on and off all week and most of today. Frustrating for buyers who try to tune in perhaps once or twice and then say "screw this" and go watch the telly.

You run a three day auction - you might get an actual two days run. With a five day, maybe three. A week will get you four, possibly five and a ten day will get you five for sure, maybe a week. Of course, you have to pay extra to get the chance for a week of exposure. But they'll rebate that 10 cents back to you if an outage of over an hour occurs at the end time. What is wrong with this picture? I want credits for paying for five, ten day auctions and not getting what I paid for.

Why don't they just admit it, they spent all the allowance we gave them on glitzy ad campaigns and lobster dinners instead of brighter geeks and faster hamsters.
