I though I saw somewhere that eBay had set up a "verified" program for its sellers. I have looked on their site map and cant find where to go to check it out.[p]
Can anyone direct me to the link?[p]
Does anyone have an opinion on the use of an eBay "verified" system?
Thanks

You have to answer a bunch of questions. I failed the first one because I moved recently so my address wouldn't go through at the point where it had my phone number. My phone number is unlisted and in my dad's name due to security reasons. The equifax place that does the verifications has me still listed at the address I was using 3 years ago! So I try my dad's address and phone number instead since he's had it for 12 years and it didn't go through either! It kept saying that the phone # didn't match the address even though it was the same one for the past 12 years. So if you've moved within the past 12 years, you'll probably not pass lol.

My Opinion has always been and remains that I.D. Verify does NOTHING but charge the applicant $5.00 when the process is completed... and makes eBay LOOK like they've created some kind of deterrent for Fraud.
eBay puts a little I.D. Verify "check Mark" Icon in your feedback profile... but if you read the fine print regarding I.D. Verify, the disclaimer states that they can't guarantee the indentity of folks that are I.D. Verified..... so what does that mean?
It means I.D. Verify offers a sense of FALSE HOPE for some form of "security" that just isn't there.
eBay continues to push the use of I.D. Verify as an alternative to registering Credit Cards (and/or) Debit Cards... but for the average user, the fact that your trading partner is who they say they are - means NOTHING.
I would imagine that in the event of some big legal mess... the fact that eBay has some concrete identifying information on it's users could certainly come in handy for eBay. But I doubt eBay assists it's members with the use of Identifying information toward stopping a common theif in action without the hassle of a court order... AND I think the real Frauds and Scammers don't volunteer GENUINE Identifying information ANYWAY... even though those are the individuals that would tend to cause the most trouble on the site.
