For BIN auctions, I thought that once the first bid was placed and the bidder did not choose to "Buy It Now" then the BIN option went away. Has this changed? I found a auction that had 3 bids on it and ended with Buy It Now. I checked the bid history and it seems that the 3rd bidder used the BIN option and won. Did ebay change the rules on this option?
Yes they did change that feature. If there is a reserve and it has not met the BIN feature will stay until either someone uses it or the reserve is met.

Flynn, Thanks for the quick reply!! So, is it only that way on a reserve auction? The auction I was referring to did have a reserve so that fits. I'm just wondering if they will change the feature to include all auctions, not just the ones with a reserve. Any news on that?

I'd love to see the Buy It Now stay on until the amount of the Buy It Now is reached. Or at least as an option. This might speed up some auction closings that drag on only because the first bid was a lowball.

And NO, I hope they do NOT implement a change to BIN to allow it to be used until the BIN price is met via bids. I will not register a credit card with eBay and will not pay $5.00 and give them extra personal information to get verified, so I can not use BIN.
I like eBay because it is an AUCTION site. I should be allowed to turn any BIN SALE into and AUCTION buy bidding.

I agree with gjsi. Let the auction run. I look at many signed books that never reach the BIN and they get bids early which locks out the BIN feature. If I could come in late, buy the auction for a couple extra bucks at BIN, it takes the auction out of the auction.
On another note: The BIN promotion is supposed to end after the first quarter of the year. So what is ebay doing on April 1. Keeping it free, charging...and if so how?

I haven't seen anything new on BIN, but i'll make a bet that it is going to go from being free to at least 0.25¢ a listing sometimes in April.
Every time you start seeing down time on eBay like this past Sunday you can bet we are in for some type of change for they are playing with the system.
Have you noticed how feedback has been on and off recently. Look for some changes there.
