Are there any options for tracing an item I won last month that has not arrived? I contacted the seller and they said it was shipped on Feb 21 via Global Airmail Letter Post. It had a value of $32 US on it so I had suspected that it was held up in customs but now that it has been over a month since shipment I'm thinking it might be lost.
My question to those who ship internationally is this: Is there any way to trace the package to see where it might have ended up? I wanted to know this before I email the seller as this was there first time shipping to Canada and since I have never had a parcel go missing I wasn't sure. Or am I just sorry, out of luck?

See if the seller can start a trace. It would have to start on their end. After 30 days the post office should start looking. But do not give up as yet, Its not unheard of that a parcel wound up sitting in a corner somewhere. Hope this turns out well for you. Best of luck.

No, unfortuanately it was not insured - I didn't think that Global Airmail Letter Post can be insured (am I wrong?)
I was hoping that there was some way for a trace to be put on it but if they can only trace insured items then I guess I'm SOL I guess it was bound to happen at sometime that a package would stray but I am still holding out hope that it will find me eventually...
And not everyone has the philosophy that the buyer has to insure the package in order to get a refund or replacement. There are some of us who feel it's the seller's responsibility to get the items into the hands of the customer REGARDLESS of whether or not the customer insures.
Not everyone feels this way but you may have a seller who does & replaces it or refunds if it doesn't get to you.

I shipped a package to Isreal and it didn't arrive, The Post Office said that they could put a tracer on it but it would do not good.
Both the buyer and I waited to see if it would turn up and after 2 months it came back to me.
So, I reshipped it out and it got to my buyer in 3 weeks.
It's hard to say what could have happened, but be patient it just might turn up like mine did.

ISRAEL has one of the worst Delivery problems of any "developed" nation. You might as well send your package to Uganda! The delivery prospect is about the same. As a note, the US postal service will not insure parcels to Israel! As a note on customs: Things can get held up a long time-especially during vacations times and holidays. (Christmas and August for Europe for example).

you may also wish to check with your local PO--I have had 'delayed' items shipped to Canada that were actually just sitting in some dark corner of the PO waiting for someone to find them..
Let us know what happens-I hope you find it soon!
