In my EOA notice I have the following statement:

If you live in North America please add : $3.00 (For shipping)

If you live outside North America, Please add: $5.00 (For shipping)

And I received this e-mail:

Hi ,i'm the winning bidder for ebay listing #???!11??!1 ,i live in Virginia
,USA ,so how much is it for shipping ? is it $3.00 or $5.00 ?

Now my ability to be sarcastic is amazing...

Is my notice not clear enough?

Lord... this is just basic knowledge is it not??

Dreadfully sorry, but we don't ship to Virginia....

Now, if you might consider moving to North Carolina?....that's really close to North America and we might be able to swing it...

What was the question again??

Where do you live? It might be an understandable mistake: I live in Ontario, California. Many see "Ontario" and automatically assume "Canada," reading no further than the "C" of California My TOS asks foreign bidders to email me for postage costs before bidding--and I get a lot of emails asking me me how much to ship to the U.S.

Bunnicula...you mean Ontario isn't in Canada?

all those years (13 of 'em) that we lived in Chino Hills...seems to me I remember crossing the border to get to Ontario...did it many times!

I mean..it IS Ontario International Airport isn't it?

It is amazing how idiot proof they have made software and computers.

Geography just isn't some people's forte. I remember a fellow at a party thinking Oklahoma was an island. I told him "Yup, it was located in the Gulf of Kansas."

Ok! Just thought of the reply,

Hi,

Virginia, huh? I think that is somewhere between in North America and out of North America, so shipping is $4.00!

Hey! You make a buck!

And I seriously need to go to bed. I am getting looney!

Be nice. Why make someone with a limited IQ feel bad. Just email them back and say $3.00.

This is too funny.

I ordered something over the phone once, and while giving my address, I said, "XXXX, WA."

The young man asked, "Washington, DC?" "No, Washington state." "I've never heard of that."

Deep breath, me: "Ok, you know how CA is on the west coast?" "Yes." "Ok, Oregon is above that, and we're above that."

Him: "Wow, I never heard of that."

I still can't believe I got my item.

People!

This is really very simple. Virginia was part of the CSA & for some, the WAR never ended, so they may not be sure if they live in "NORTH" America or not.

Cut these poor Southerners some slack. And before anyone jumps on me...I'm a Southerner so I know how some think!

If anyone remembers Dog Day afternoon, when the bank robbers were trying to negotioate the release of hostages, demanded a plane to take them out of the country? When asked where they wanted to go one replied WYOMING!

Along these lines........

I used to work as a paralegal, and took phone calls from potential clients. Some were out of state. To get a correct time to call someone back, I once asked someone if they were on central time. They got really quiet.............

and then loudly proclaimed "no, Ma'am. We're on daylight savings time"

HUH?!?!?!?!?!?

LOL.
