For us, it's been very, very slow...especially within the last week.
How is it for others.....

The first two weeks of March were fantastic for me, even got lots of early bids. The past week is dead in the water.

Similar experience.... The first two weeks were very active. The last two have been a bit soft, but not terrible. Fortunately, we've sold a bunch of products wholesale, so the month looks good.

I think March will be the best month of the year for us (yeah yeah only 3 months in but still). Had a new set of Pokemon cards to sell and they've moved VERY well - especially the completed sets. Also had excellent off-Ebay sales (to customers NOT gathered through Ebay - so they are "Ebay Legal" to 3 regular customers, so I'm thinking this will be a very good month.. Might even beat my record month from last year - but we'll find out Sunday when I do the March books...

Slow earlier but picking up fast now. Maybe the upswing in the market is helping.

It's been very good for me. Getting lots of hits & bids. Even had a couple of small bidding wars--in fact one is going on right now for a book I have up.

I haven't run the numbers, but my impression is that things are very good. I have a constant flow of books being shipped. I do have my share of auctions closing with no bids, but it's not a very high percentage. I am diversified across ebay, Yahoo, half.com, Bibliofind, and Amazon, and this yields a constant flow of business.
Since reading the "bookselling for idiots" thread, I have started using higher minimum bids, with the plan of relisting with a lower minimum if need be. But my impression is that I'm still getting as many sold auctions, and maybe for an overall higher price due to no longer selling as many for $3 or $4.

Keziak - what kind of books do you sell? I have boxes and boxes of books that I'm not sure I want to hang on to - and you are sort of a book-seller expert around here....

Can you tell me how to find the "bookselling for idiots" thread?
Thanks.

Slow, slow, slow. The past two weeks have been terrible. Out of 165 auctions, only 39 actually ended successfully. That is just terrible to me. Anyway, I have a feeling things are picking up. I am actually getting bids on my new items that I listed last night, so it's looking pretty good.

katiyana - har, thanks for the "expert" comment, which I'm not [unlike several people here who know who they are]. As for what I sell, I tend to gravitate towards the how-to type of book because I have most success selling to people who want to do something, and don't mind an ex-library copy if it has the info. I take on most anything though, like the toilet book I just sold [found that at a thrift shop].
My best advice is to start off using the free-listing sites such as half.com and Amazon while you spend time researching whether your books have any market. That way your risk is low, compared to spending listing fees on ebay. I always check ebay open and closed auctions before listing, to find out what if any market there might be for a given book.
I'm bullish right now on Yahoo, too, with the caveat that I am using up "funny money" I got on the site for my ebay FB. They give a dollar per FB point credit to use for their new listing fees. There is MUCH less competition now on that site, and since I started listing again, I have had several sales.
dickw: I'm too much of an idiot to know how to give you the URL for the thread. I checked down, and found it on page 8 of the listings.

Keziak - getting funny money from yahoo - how does that work? I could use some of that on yahoo to plug some more Pokemon items up there...

Bidding is strong right now for us. I put up 13 auctions yesterday and 6 already have bids. We also closed 14 auctions last night and 11 closed with bids, a few were bid up nicely.

Let's see, stuff selling for under $10 is doing very well, stuff selling for $10-$25 is doing OK, stuff selling for $25-$50 is slow and stuff over $50 is very slow.

I told you earlier in this thread that I thought this was going to be a good month for me... it was better than good, it was GREAT!! I just ran the preliminary March numbers through a spreadsheet, and I'm looking at $775 PROFIT this month!!!

The first half of March was not good for us at all. The second half is totally opposite, and we're having some great bidding activity.

I'm starting a thread related to why I believe business might be taking a nosedive recently for some of us. It's something disturbing I just discovered and I apologize if it's been covered in another thread recently.
Stay tuned....

The middle of Feb. was dead for me as far as low end merch goes and I have not run a sale since. I'd been selling rummage sale-type items ($5-$60)like gangbusters from Sept. until then(did not run auctions in Dec.). I buy way more than I sell however. From a folk art bidder's perspective, the offerings had been slim for three or four weeks. Things picked up about a week ago though and then dropped off. I think sellers are continually sending out feelers to test the market. The market is puzzling. I track dozens of items in the folk art categories and it seems as though items are either selling for tall money or there are no bids at all.
