I just had a "sunglasses and no feedback" bidder retract his bid because he had been "outbid already"!!! This decreased my price by about $30.00!!! ANY ADVICE PLEASE!!!

I have had this happen more then once it's something Newbies do alot.
I don';t think they realize what an auction is all about.

There's nothing you can do about the bid, but you can look at the bidder's feedback page to see if they have a habit of retracting bids. If they've got quite a few retractions, email Safeharbor and let them know. Even if they don't have a lot of retractions you could let Safeharbor know and ask they give her a warning... "I got outbid" is NOT a valid reason for retraction.

A couple of years ago there was a woman posting on the eBay chat board that she always retracted her bid if she got outbid. Nothing anyone said could make her understand how wrong that was!!

I had a woman retract a bid on a lot of children's clothing that I have up for auction. I wasn't really too upset at first, because there are still a few days left in the auction. She left the reason of "Sorry, wrong size!" BUT, then I checked her feedback out of curiosity to see if she does this often.

I was floored when I saw that she has 78 bid retractions for the last six months -- 16 just for the past week! I reported her right away to Safe Harbor, and sent her an email telling her not to bid on any more of my auctions.
[p]
She was furious with me! In her first email, she complained about having 3 abscessed teeth that had to be removed. She asked "don't I feel silly for complaining?" to Safe Harbor. Then another email came, saying that she is sorry and that she does have to cancel her bids sometimes because she is "sick, tired and disabled." I didn't reply to either message.
[p]
I can understand that everyone at one time or another may have to retract a bid, but 78 times?! That's scary!

Sure....But she wasn't too sick to place and retract her bids!

I hope she needs a root canal to go along with those lying teeth!

LOL! I just checked to see if "maybe" she was NARU'd/suspended yet, and she is up to 80 retractions! I can't have been the only seller to complain about this person. Please Safe Harbor, put her out of "our" misery!

I don't have time for this type bidder so I bar them from bidding on my auctions and send a copy to safeharbor. There are to many bidders for me to play games.

Here is the last one I sent:

You are barred from bidding on my auctions because you retracted a bid on one of my auctions without a ligitamate reason for retracting the bid.

Your reason for retracting the bid (Explanation: my son made the bid without my consent.) is not within the guidelines as
specified by eBay. Below is a link to the guidelines. You should read them:

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?RetractBidShow

A carbon copy of this email is being sent to [email protected] and [email protected] for their records.

Hello,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

I just wanted to send you a note to say we have received your letter and it will be kept on file for future reference. Should this bidder decide to bid on any of your items in the future without your permission, please contact us immediately so we can take the appropriate action.

Happy trading!

This is the LAST thing that sellers should want. It would be a BAD thing to have this bidder NARU'd. Why? Because she would just register again under a new ID. And she wouldn't have the 80 odd bid retractions on her record to serve as a warning to sellers. No, she would be a Zero Feedback newbie and sellers would be none the wiser.

The same goes for deadbeats. WHY ON EARTH do sellers want to have them NARU'd? It makes absolutely NO sense. They should be FORCED to bid with their neg-laden, bid-retracting record on file for all to see. By getting them NARU'd, you're really doing them a big FAVOR! They can just start fresh with a clean slate.
