If you discuss any auction, that has absolutely any clues in it at all... item, colour, size, condition, terms of service, your ID, location of seller... ANYTHING that is searchable, your thread will be locked the minute anyone is able to identify the auction.
Be kind, if you are a super sleuth and are able to identify the auction... DON'T SAY SO! An interesting thread was locked yesterday as a consequence of someone "finding" it AND saying so.
The new policy stinks because it is so restrictive. Before, sellers/bidders were able to be invited. Now the discussion just gets locked down.

You know Mivona if you are so unhappy with AW's performance, why do you keep posting here. I am sure that there are other places to go, and it is very glaringly obvious that you are unhappy here at AW. So why do you stay?
I have seen you belittle and talk down just about everything that AW does, if you had a business would you expect the public that you were dealing with to argue with everthing you tried to do. AW may not be perfect, but who is and no one forces you to stay and sit in judgement.

The thread you are referencing started with the premise that a certain seller had a very rude TOS...said TOS was quoted.
Another poster (we won't say who but this person is on this thread...lets call this poster A) obviously looked up the seller and commented on that seller's feedback, both recieved and given....and also remarked about how the feedback recieved included a number of negative feedback that seemed to show the seller was not the best seller around.
Poster A tried to skirt the new rules by pretending they were talking about a "general" seller.
Personally, I wonder who was ruder...the seller in question, the original poster in that thread, or poster A who was talking about someone behind their back?
It is one thing to discuss general auction questions...it is quite another thing to get ones jollies by using another ebayer as the current object of derision.
You seem to want to retain the ability to "make fun of...ridicule..put down" other ebay users for your own enjoyment.
I'm glad AW finally decided to stop pussyfooting around on this issue...it is rude, disrespectful and down right nasty to talk about others like that. And inviting the person to their own assasination didn't make it right.

There is no reason why the auctions can not be discussed by us, we do not have to put all the details in our posts. As you say if someone twigs to the identity of the seller of the auction, keep your mouth shut.
Why can't an auction be discussed in general terms, okay you can not name the seller or give the item #, but we have never been able to do those things. You can still discuss the item, but you have to talk about it in general terms. So what, that only stops the moaners from picking this person to bits when they are not there to defend themselves.
Now before you go and say that AW has not given you a way to contact the seller and also CC a copy to the moderator, let me say that although to you it may not have looked like AW had put any real thought into what was going to happen, how do we know and who are we to say, were we in there when they were trying to nut out this problem?
I am just so sick and tired of hearing all the bad things about AW, it is time someone stood up and said something good.
I use AW services, besides just the forums, do you? I along with a lot of others, are very happy with the service I receive.
It's irrelevant who manages to identify the third party - once it's been confirmed by the Moderator (and it may very well be the Mod who finds them first), the thread will be locked or deleted. There's nothing new about that particular action. Posting a complete or partial TOS (particularly an unusual TOS) will just about guarantee the auction will be found.
Your have made your opinions regarding the new policy AW has instituted quite clear over the last few days. While we value your input, the changes are here to stay.
If anyone has further questions regarding this policy, please address your inquiries to [email protected].
