I got this information in an auction newsletter yesterday, thought it might be helpful to some of you. Sorry if it's already been posted here somewhere.
VIRUS UPDATE
Apparently some auction users have been receiving a devious email message supposedly sent by PayPal with a virus attached to it. PayPal never sent any such email. You should never open a file sent from anyone without first doing a virus scan, and even then, you should be cautious. Here's the email - if you get one, delete the file without opening it!

2. Go to Start->Find->Files or folders.
3. Type in check.exe and press enter
4. When the file comes up, double click it
5. Print it out and take it to the bank!
If you have any questions or concerns, Please contact me right away.
Sincerely,

My message was tongue-in-cheek (consider it an April Fool's joke a day late.) I was referring to the virus that has millions of folks believing that Paypal is the best service out there, that if you don't use it you are somehow suspect and that you are "protected" by Paypal if you do use it. Maybe instead of t-shirts, they should be giving out PP condoms. Once you sign up and particularly if you are verified, you have now let this virus infect your credit card and bank account. Even if you close your PP account, you might find signs of the infection a month later.
