I'd like to find a thread which discussed a regular poster's computer problems. It was suggested that "Fast Find" might be a culprit. (I have OCR Instant Access, too. Same thing? Conflicting?) I was going to reread the thread later that day and maybe remove it but spaced it out and can't find the thread now.
My search came up with nothing - I used "site search" down below -right??? and looked at the Message Center responses. I've never had much luck doing this.
Thanks, cray

Fast Find is an element of Microsoft Office. You can shut it off by either removing it from your start up folder, or by removing the checkmark in front of it in the list of programs in MSCONFIG (if you're using Win98).

OCR Instant Access sounds like a program for your scanner. In all likelyhood, you can also shut it off the same way and only start the program if you are going to be scanning text. OCR is Optical Character Recognition and is what your scanner uses when you are scanning text and needing to be able to edit it after scanning.
