I just got an order for a book on half.com. I have been selling there a few weeks now. This book that was ordered tonight someone else order and of course I sent it out a few weeks ago. So I was really surprised to see someone else order it of course I have to decline the order.

Does't half.com take the book down after someone bought it? Or is this just a bug in there software. It annoys me. I know when I buy something I don't like getting a notice that it is coming. Has this happened to anyone else.

I still haven't rejected the sale because I am wondering how to handle this with Half.com

I am wondering if I should now look through the 150-200 other things I have up there and see if they still have other things that are sold listed. I am to tired to do it tonight.

I figure I will deal with it in the morning.

Curious to see if it has happened to anyone else?

Thanks ahead of time

It could be that you listed it twice by mistake.

No I know I didn't double list it I always double check the board after it is listed and then go check inventory for a triple check after I am done listing them all.

That has never happened to me, but once or twice I was unable to ship so I clicked on the option to decline and got not-so-vaguely threatening email in response. This really annoyed me. Why do they give sellers the option to decline and then threaten that the buyer will probably leave negative feedback? When is the buyer charged, anyway, once the seller confirms, right? Once I tried to order a book on Bibliofind and got a reply that it wasn't available, and I was a big girl about it.

What bugs me about half.com is that they have a policy for the big sellers and a different policy for the little guys. I purchased a few items from a big seller, They never even bothered to cancel. Half.com cancelled when they never responded. I left negative feedback. Half.com wrote me to let me know that they were throwing it out since it wasn't their fault since they ran a retail store and it was sold in the store so those things happen. One time I received negative feedback for sending the wrong book which I did not. I asked half com to remove it and they told me they couldn't but would recommend the seller change the feedback since he had mixed me up with the other seller of his partial order. He never did.

Good luck trying to get a real answer out of this place. The book that got returned to me, (after almost a month on the road, due to the buyer being to lazy to pick up at the post office...) now they want me to resend it to the same address. There has been no reply to the question of being reimbursed on this 2nd shipping charge.

I also have a problem with the fact that the site clearly states feedback is to be left by those who complete a purchase...

If a transaction is not confirmed, then it is not a purchase. They are violating the terms of their own board. But, of course, they can't seem to answer any question about that, either.

escandyo Is it a purchase if a seller confirms your order and then cancels it because they claim it was confirmed by mistake?

Nowwhat, that is one of those things I don't have a clue as to what is correct. Accidents do happen, perhaps at a second look at the book, it was better not to send. Or, maybe it sold off the shelf earlier in the day.

Half isn't all ice cream and a bag of chips, to sell just through them...other than that, if they would get better about responding to email, things would move much more smoothly.

I will not ship this book until I have a specific reply from them regarding the shipping on this. If she was too lazy to get the book the first time, I see no reason for her to bother now. Its out of my pocket, not hers OR halfs.

I sell on half.com
I've asked questions on several occasions.
I was answered once.
Let the seller beware.

Yes I have to agree about the way Half.com answers their email.
For example, I received an order for a book back in January and confirmed it. Later on I realized that the title ordered was different from the book I listed. When I looked it up on half.com it was listed with a different name but the picture of the book was the book I originally listed. Whoever entered the data at Half.com mixed up the isbn# with the wrong book. I emailed Half.com and explained the problem and canceled the order, and received a response back the next day stating "thank you for bringing this to our attention" etc etc. It sounded like a automatic generated message but I gave it no further thought until a couple of weeks ago I noticed a negative feedback from the person who originally ordered the book stating I never sent the book. It turns out that not only did Half.com never cancel the order but it looks like they never actually read the email I sent! Soon after they sent a email asking where was the book?, when was it sent? etc etc.
I replied with a long email about what happened and asked that they responed to my email, then after two weeks they finally respond stating they will cancel the order and reemburse the original buyer. This is two months after the book was ordered. So now I'm the one that has negative feedback because of their screw up.
**This would have never happened if they allow the seller and buyer to contact each other through email like on Amazons marketplace. Then I could have directly told the buyer about the mix up and there would have been no problem.
So many of the problems on Half.com is related to communication between buyers and sellers. If they allow the sellers to see the buyers email address and visa versa, then the buyer can email with questions about condition etc.
Many time I decided not to buy a book on Half.com because I needed more info about condition and there was no way to contact the seller. Half.com would make a lot more money and the buyers would be happier if communication between buyers and sellers were allowed.

Yes well I cant even find an e-mail address surfed the help for about 10 minutes. Anyone got an e-mail address sounds like the best thing I can do it just not confirm the sale? What you all think. Ticks me off. Half.com messes up and it is my problem and I can't even find easily how to contact them.

As they say #@!(&@$&!(+@$&((&$)

I have been selling on half for quite a while and have had this happen only once. I refused the sale and sent a note to the buyer apologizing and explaining what happened. All I can tell you is that this is not a normal occurrence.

traceyg ~ To contact Half.com go to the site, at the top of the page click on Help Desk then go to the bottom of that page and click on Wizard something or other, can't remember right now. You can then leave a message. I've contacted them several times and even though they don't respond right away, I have always received an answer to my questions.
