I just had a auction close and the buyer is in the Netherlands. I stated only U.S. bidders, but regardless I can ship to him. He only sends paypal and I don't have or want to get account Should I get account for this transaction and then close it? Is there another way to handle this with out getting him tick off.

Tell him to send payment via Bidpay.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I have opened a PayPal account to just accept one transaction. When I had the money I closed the account.

BTW, Doesn't bidpay cost the buyer $5.00?

I guess I don't have a choice. After reading all the horror stories about Paypal I thought I could sell stuff and receive payment by Money order or personal checks with good feedback. This worked for awhile, but could turn into a negative situation. Even though I spelled out Money order or personal checks and U.S. Buyers only. Some people will just look at what you are selling and bid on it regardless. Especially in the last few seconds.

we only sell/ship to the US and when stuff like this happens we stick to our guns and say sorry but as the ad and the auction says we only ship to our country.

almost every time we have made an exception there has been a problem, they don't send the US shipping and claim they didn't get the email with shipping to their country. they send it in Canadian funds not US, send it with a signature required so I have to stand in line at the post office usually 10-20 min at our post office(we ship at the dock so usually we never have to stand in the post office lines). if you break it all down sometimes we actually have made about 50cents an hour to except some of these orders.

There is nothing wrong with sticking to what you have stated on your ads or auction.

Tell him to CANCEL the PayPal request and use BIDPAY to send you a money order. Yes, it will cost him $5, but it's your auction and your terms.

You should also look into BillPoint as they accept International payments.

Another option for future reference, does YAHOO paydirect take international pymnts? ALso, you don't have to have a bipay account to recieve payments, I've never opened one, and I get their moeny orders all the time. it does cost the buyer $5.00, but if they are willing.

Personally, I would tell the guy "my auction, my terms" And see if the runner up bidder is interested. JMHO.

Thanks for all your help. He just emailed me and said he would send a money order via registered AirMail. I can't imagine how people in foreign countries can regester on ebay. Do they need a American credit card since we are dealing in American funds? I'm just curious to know how this all works.

No...I used my Canadian credit card. Likewise for Billpoint and Paypal.

Remember...the US is not the centre of the universe.

No, its not the "centre" of the universe, but it sure is the "Center" of the Universe!

Hee Hee, sorry, I couldn't resist a little Canadian vs American humor.

I know.. but ebay is. I was going to bid on a mountain bike in Vancouver B.C. He was going to convert the price to canadian $$. If I won, was going to drive up an pick it up in person. After checking on the customs duties. It was not worth the hassle.
