I received this email from the "ask the seller" feature. The item in question is a "hot" item that gets bid up very high. I do not know what to respond to this person.

im questioning the validatity of the bidders on your auction to ebay, those particualary with the htmail extensions to their user id's, seems from their feedback they are not of good intention, i would recommend checking them out and cancelling any invalid bids, ill let you know what i hear back from ebay

I would check out the bidders and their feedback. If the high bidders have FB for not paying, I would cancel their bids. Just having a hotmail email addy is NOT reason to cancel anything.
Check the auction activity by this person who emailed you (search by seller, using the email addy for the ID). They might have had their auctions run up by these bidders.

I would send that email on to Safeharbor and see what eBay makes of it.
The user may be attempting to get you to cancel bids by their competition. Or may be using your auction to grind an axe with other eBayers. Or may be legitimately concerned that some other bidders are messing with your auction and their own legitimate bid intents.

Please don't judge a bidder by the fact that he/she may be using a hotmail address. My DSL ISP recently declared bankruptcy but wouldn't/couldn't give me a precise date that they would release the line so that I could sign up with another provider. I knew I would be disconnected when their bankruptcy was approved and signed up for a hotmail account so that I could be sure I'd be able to communicate with my buyers. Sure enough, last Friday night I lost my dsl connection with auctions closing over the weekend. Thanks to hotmail, everything has gone smoothly.
