I'm a new seller and I've learned a lot from this forum. I know that I still have a lot more to learn. I'm wondering if any of the books about using eBay are worth buying. I suspect that they are just cashing in on eBay's popularity.

The best one I have seen is "eBay for Dummies", but look through it before buying - it's pretty basic, and you may already know most of what's in it. You will learn far more on the various eBay disscussion boards than you will from a dozen books, IMO.

"Starting Your Online Auction Business" by Dennis Prince. Prima, 2000. Excellent book that goes into everything we discuss here, such as finding merchandise, mounting effective auctions, taxes and business recordkeeping, and so forth.

Ahh! I think I heard of "THE PRINCE" but my husband refers to me as "THE PRINCESS" though I assure him that I never would have bought those books before! we won't mention the junkier items that I fill the house with and I am giving my money away to a worthy cause ie the goodwill stores and if I make a "big" sale I bring the volunteers some bakery goodies! We are sharing the wealth but his other terms are more like sleaseball and how could you! However, my feedback is still good on ebay! and I am a popular buyer in town now!
I just saw some harlequins (past tense) that sold for $ 50.00 a few weeks ago and I know I have that author hanging around somewhere. Your best bet though is (as discussed earlier) is go to completed auctions and write down the names of the ones that sell~ the same names in romance come up time and time again. Well, back to work selling off my harlequins! ( or more serious items. ) suz23 here only, The PRINCESS elsewhere.

LOL. That's a good one! I've never read it. I believe the author is Machiavelli.

Now that was funny.

And I would be laughing even harder if it wasn't so damm true.

But history tellus that ever so often the peasants win so maybe there is some hope.

Until then I'm just another Frustrated User of eBay ( FU eBay -for short)

PS The author Nancy L. Hix has written "Online Auctions" and " Buying, Selling and Trading on the Internet". A new book is due out shortly. She hangs out on the eBay board at OTWA. User ID Marble. Very friendly, knowledgable and always willing to help.
