I went to check in at the Help board for Mr. Lister and Sellers Assistant - is this overblown or true...

I've been using AA Classic for well over a year and was very pleased with the program and the service the developer provided.

I'm very unhappy with the results of eBay's purchase of this product including the subscription fee for a purchased program, the disabling of the original program, the constant patches, no effective support service and my inability to get the new program to work.

I downloaded the new program because eBay gave us a deadline to get a years "free" service and the old program was not working.

Since then I only been listing old auctions where I have duplicate stock and can relist from the closed auction page. I have not been able to list any new items as I can not get SA to work.

As a result of my personal experiences,I agree with all the comment in the thread you referred to in your post.

Just one more reason I, as a small indepentent seller, hold eBay's present management in contempt as they seem to hold us.

Interestingly I've virtually not had a moment's problem with SAB.

I started using SAB a few weeks ago when AW changed their policy ~ I'm still learning, but I haven't had a problem yet.

I'm encouraged to hear from eventer and zoomin that the program is working for some users.

I've been very pleased with the original s/w and frustrated that something so core to my process wasn't working for me.

Two questions. Did you use the original AA and try upgrading and transfering data into the new SA or are you starting fresh with just the SA program?

What do you see when looking at an individual listing page in SA? I have data off screen to the right and below and can not access scrool bars to be able to view that data.

I have both the original and the new program loaded as the transfer of data/descriptions didn't happen automatically when installing SA and I want to save (cut and paste)descriptions for duplicate inventory into SA before uninstalling AA.

I may be just a click or two away from having it work but I'll be darned if I know which clicks to make.

Previuos customer service and support from other users was so good that they were often available to walk you through a three of four step email exchange to get things working or talk you through problems on the phone.

Now CS is a war zone and I backed off waiting for a quieter time.

Once past the original learning curve I was very happy with AA and used it for both eBay and other sites (by C&P). I'm really lost without it right now.

reston-ray,

Good Lord..you are in a mess!

First, I have the SAB, not the SAP. SAP seems to be a lot more "buggy" than SAB. Which version are you using?

Secondly, I downloaded all new, not the upgrade from my Classic. Interestingly, it transferred all my AAC files over to SAB w/o me asking it to(now I have the same files on both AAC & SAB). Apparently that didn't happen for you. I'd be quite dismayed, too!

Now here's where I'm really confused. I don't have any "scroll bars" on my individual listing screen unless I'm in the "multiview" look. In the "details" look, I have the ebay input section on the left, along w/the pricing info & the place to choose my photo.

In the center is the Optional Features section & the Payment Section, along w/the place where I can see the photo I've selected.

On the right is counters & listing info.

If you are working out of SAP, I can't help but maybe someone else can. I know rampaged has his up & working & he might be using SAP.

I am in a mess, even before considering SAB, but that's a topic for another thread.

I'm running SAB, version 3.0.10 and get a "No up-date needed" notice when first opening the program.

I think I followed instructions and downloaded from the proper location for thoes that had AAC on their machines.

The installation did transfer settings like my email account and FTP site but not stored listings.

Apparently this was a known problem to occasionly happen because there was a posting that if this happened you should follow these instructions... to copy and transfer the stored auction information.

I decided to get the program working with a new listing before making the data transfer. I only have about 40 stored listings and could C&P if I had to.

When looking at the "detals" tab I can only see about 10% of the right hand column (count, style. #, date etc.) and nothing below the box for the second image.

I posted an auction which showed up OK and all the data fields filled in on the third column but I can only see the very left edge of them.

Due to space limitations at my computer desk and being cheap I'm still using a 14 inch monitor. It's like the Details Tab page expects more screen to display on. When this happens while viewing pages elsewhere there are scroll bars to let you move right or down.

I could just list "half blind" but it adds an element of uncertainty that I would like to remove.

Until I get this fixed I don't want to deal with data transfer or create new listings.

So I'm in full stall but maybe just a click or two away from having it work.

Where do I click?

Edited to add, I see the links accross the top of the details tab page all the way over to the question mark.

reston_ray,

BTW, there are now 2 more patches out, I think we are up to 3.0.12 now.

I have a larger monitor so I'm not having the cut off problems you are. To solve that problem, looks like you are going to either have to live w/it or give up & purchase a new monitor (they aren't THAT expensive!!!), better than squinting all the time.

I don't see anything which allows you to "adjust" the size to fit your screen. Don't think you have lots of choices here.

Can't help either on the file transfer. My stuff transferred automatically & I fortunately didn't have to cut & paste. I did see something about being able to transfer .mdb files over but I don't know if you want to go that direction.

You can import a MisterLister collection if you can group your old stuff into a collection.

I did a full scale download originally, not from their primary location & everything went smoothly. Sorry!

rampaged is usually here in the evening, he might have some suggestions.

I have a computer desk with the small section on the right, where a 14 incher fits nicely, and the larger section on the left where my old desktop sits.

A new monitor will need the larger left section. That means I have to break down and buy a tower to fit on the right (desktops don't work all that well on their side).

If I have to get a new system it might as well be a good one so I can try video edition etc. and get fast cable connection to make use of the faster capabilities.

So now I'm up to a thousand dollars and forty bucks a month because I can't see part of the SAB column.

And people wonder why eBay occasionally annoys me.

Thanks for the help, I really do appreciate it, and I will wait for a day to see if anyone else has some suggestions.

reston_ray - I am using SAP, having upgraded from AAP. I love the program and have had only minor problems with it.

As to your problem, are you using Large or Small Fonts on your computer. If you are using Large Fonts you might want to switch to Small Fonts and see if that helps. Assuming you are running Windows this is found under the control panel - display.

Good Luck

I am SICK SICK SICK of Mister Lister. I have just now spent 2 hours trying to send 3 auctions to see how it works. I have tried 1 pic, 2 pics, no pics....same message. ERRORS were detected. I have been OVER AND OVER the tutorial, successfully saved colelctions, etc, etc. I think this system of bulk loading is unreliable. HELP!!!

LOL! Guess you're right..it's the teckie version of if I get new curtains, then I need to repaint the walls. If I repaint the walls, then I need new furniture. If I get new furniture, then I need new carpet. Pretty soon you're up to a new house & Ferrari.

And people wonder why eBay occasionally annoys me

Only "occasionally"? I consider it a full time annoyance..only slightly less bothersome than my husband & child.

KASTEM - The change to small fonts worked. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Please email me your address. I've got a great buy on chocolate bunnies set-up for Monday and want to send you one.

I'll tackle the rest tomorrow. eBay has a 99.4% chance of being a disaster next weekend so I'm in no great hurry.
