Some bidders are just so thick sometimes, can they not read simple instructions!!
I send a very clear end of auction e-mail, which includes the following line:
3. Please include the Ebay auction number with payment (or copy this e-mail) to ensure you get the right item. ALSO: Clearly print or type your address – some handwritten ones are extremely difficult to read.
So I keep on getting (infrequently thankfully, but a real annoyance nonetheless) money orders that have nothing on them but the person's handwritten address -- no auction number, no "title" of the item, no "e-mail" or eBay user ID, na da! Or they are like a recent one that sent too much money, in cash, no number or title, and said, keep the change.
I sell hundreds of items every month, and quote both insured & uninsured amounts -- and due to the number of auctions, totals for one item are often the same as those of another.
Pees me off totally, I have to look through pages of records, trying to figure out what item goes with their payment -- and in the case of the over-payment, I don't have a clue.

I hear ya! For those I have no way of knowing who they are, or what they bought - they get filed away on my desk until the buyer INQUIRES about their payment. I then ask them for their mailing address (that they never emailed to begin with) and hopefully can match up the payment with the buyer. It is very frustrating!
