I was talking to another seller on the phone last night and he said that each time he checks out negatives he finds that a good many of them are left for stupid reasons and I had to agree.

A new feature that I would love to see is one where the buyer and seller are unable to leave feedback for at least 3 days after the auction closes.

Another thread demonstrates this very well. With so many anxious new buyers out there I think it makes sense to have this feature. Ebay's EOA e-mails are arriving so late now that I mostly e-mail all my buyers as soon as the auctions close just so they aren't getting nervous.

I don't know if it is because of all the internet fraud stories or what it is that makes people "jump the gun" and cause them to leave feedback so quickly. Maybe people are just in a hurry these days and many don't bother reading the rules.

I am in no rush to get a feedback but it puts a lot of pressure on a seller to have to be at the computer "on guard" all the time. If there was a feedback block feature for a few days perhaps everyone would relax a bit and most of the silly problems could be dealt with. These include not hearing from the seller, understanding shipping rates and every other thing that makes most transactions go very smooth.

I also would like to see a mandatory delay in leaving feedback. It would at the very least eliminate the "Negged 2 minutes after auction closed" threads. And IMO it would be better for all involved if both parties had to think through their frustrations before leaving negative feedback. But we should still be able to leave positive feedback any time.

I could go along with that. Very rarely is an ebay deal totaly wrapped up quicker than 3 days (I did one, auction closed, had my merchandise in about 10 minutes, but this is NOT the norm.), so it makes sense to me.

Kinda like a 3 day waiting period to get Married, since bad feedback is as hard to get rid of as a bad wife

I don't know...I leave feedback as soon as an item ships and that can be within 24 hours...

I love the feedback waiting period... It would be so nice.

POSITIVE feedback could be left at any time. The waiting period would apply to negs only.
