I think that I went up against a shill bid recently and at one time I thought I saw a web site that could be used to trace whether or not shill bidding is going on. If anyone has a site please post it here. The bidding took place on ebay.
Thanks

Please read the docs and warnings about how some things that are ok, will look odd.

scabblegod> I just read a post from you in another thread but it got locked so I couldn't reply. Sorry to be off subject here but I just wanted to say that I hate Andale too. They are just the worst!

Hi jacowa,

I had to delete your post as the link you posted is promotional in nature.

Please review our CG's for clarification on this matter at:

Thanks,

There is a fantastic program out there to detect shill bidding, and I have no connection with the makers of the product, but neither I nor anyone else can tell you about it in this forum. Sorry.

There are other fora on the web in which people are able to ask such questions and receive an answer, but I cannot tell you about these either. Once again, sorry.

jacowa:

Correct. But those interested in your info can post their email addresses so that you can send the info to them directly. Just a thought...

I wonder if there is anyway (or if any of the software programs out there) will detect shill bidding when the seller is using the newest weapon in the counterfeit item selling scam on ebay, which is using the "private auction". There are a number of sellers in the "western americana" section of ebay using this technique, to sell fake items. If you know a way to find out if they are using shills, let me know...you can email me at :

A shill bid, is usually taken to mean a bid placed by either the person selling the item, or one of his friends/ family members, etc. in order to drive the price up to the point where the seller wants it......or to avoid the pricing schedule of ebay on listing fees. some sellers use secondary email addresses and identities to place shill bids.
