Thought some others might like to see this article that appears in the new SuperSeller E-newsletter from Krause Publications, the largest publisher of collector magazines in the country. Cat's outta the bag, AW...

>AuctionWatch sellers up in arms over referral question

AuctionWatch sellers are expressing concern that referral money they are entitled to receive from PayPal is being intercepted by AuctionWatch.

AuctionWatch sellers are entitled to a $5 referral if their buyers choose PayPal as their payment method. To qualify for the Refer-A Friend bonus, users had to sign up for PayPal, confirm their e-mail address, confirm a checking account, add $100 or more by electronic funds transfer into their PayPal account and sign up for a Money Market Fund.

In order to get the bonus for new referrals, links are formatted with the text "pal=userid" at the end. Sellers usually set this up with their own user ID in the link. However, AuctionWatch has ended the link with "[email protected], which surprised sellers who assumed their own user ID was inserted in the string.

"The concern is that AuctionWatch has a method to capture bonuses that their users would have expected to get for themselves," one AW user, who preferred to remain anonymous, told SuperSeller. "Maybe the more wary and computer-savvy noticed, but my guess is that most did not.<

That explains why I haven't seen a referral bonus in nearly a year. Used to get them quite often initially. AW, what is your response?
