One small victory for me! Well, I gotta take the victories where I can. I bet no one bids on it now! LOL

Hello Denise,

Thank you for writing eBay. We have identified the miscommunication
between Fox and eBay that resulted in this mistake and will be
reinstating your item shortly. If you wish, you can relist your item
without waiting for the reinstatement. We have credited to your account
any fees associated with the listing we inadvertently removed.

I apologize for this inconvenience.

Best regards,

XXXX

May I ask how many emails it took from you to get this "victory"?????

If I were you, I would frame that email!

I hope you get lots of bids and a good price. Maybe you should add something like "The Book Fox Demanded eBay Ban!"

Good 4u neeceebaby, you know when you posted the title of the book in your other thread (answering my question), I just never could believe it would be VERO'd for any real reason, so glad to see it was just some kind of corporate goof. Hope you get good bids.

neecebaby:

I'm so happy for you. After I read that thread I was in disbelief, so I wrote someone at eBay the following letter:

Hello:

I'm sooooooo confused and beginning to think my days at eBay may be over soon.

I was just speaking with someone who listed a used autobiography on eBay and it was cancelled because 21st Century Fox claimed they had the rights to it, so you cancelled their auction? Huh? I don't understand?

Isn't the eBay concept about selling used items? What happens if I decide to sell my car and General Motors comes along and tells you that they own the rights to my minivan and I shouldn't be selling it on eBay Motors. Isn't that the same scenerio?

I believe the person I'm talking about checked on half.com which I believe you own as well and there are 8 copies of this same book for sale. Why are you allowing those sales?

I really think eBay needs to reconsider this VERO idea, I'm afraid they will tell you that noone will be allowed to RESELL anything, then where will we all be?

I'm sorry this is so long, but I make a lot of money on your website, and I'm sure you make a fair amount off me, although not millions off me, but they all add up you know?

Thank you

Anyway, I just thought it was ridiculous that they could tell someone they couldn't resell something. That's kind of like cutting your nose of to spite your face when it comes to selling on eBay, isn't it?

This is the kind of stuff that Dan from the Wall Street Journal should be writing about. I think I'll e-mail him this thread.

Good for you! neeceebaby, congratulations!

And good for you, too, flynn, for taking the time to send that email. We should all do that in cases like this.

I had this happen to me.

Had a real pair of Oakley Sunglasses up for sale. Oakley had the auction ended and the bidding was going very well.

Anyways I ended up getting in touch with the VERO on the phone and she felt real bad. She admitted her mistake and said relist it and she would contact Ebay...She did and Ebay emailed me...the glasses sold for less that what they would of the first time. I told the VERO that and she asked for my home address..I think she was planning on sending me some glasses or something ...never heard a thing after that..

At least she fessed up to her error.
