I am NOT blaming my mail box full of Spam on eBay - I am very active on line and I am sure my address is being picked up via every site I visit etc. But I am being swamped by SPAM - I have blocked endless Spam with the (Outlook Express “Block Sender”), but new addresses pop up every day - I would say now on the average I am receiving 75 pieces of Spam every day to my main address!
I know I read here once on a product that someone was using the help eliminate one's address being picked up while on line - would someone please recommend such again.
I am on an independent ISP, and I really don't want to see them implement many Spam blockers as they tried these in the past and the systems also pick up on any "mass mail" sent by eBay - other auctions - or any site where I might have requested an update, and which send such out in mass mailings.

You can set up a rule in Outlook Express to block mass mailings that don't show your specific email address in the To: line. I've done this myself and it has stopped about 80% of the junk mail I was getting. If you get mail from someone who uses Mass Mail, you can also set up a special rule to allow their email to come in. I have a friend who lives far away, and she sends update letters to a bunch of us, but she hides all of our addresses. I set up a folder and direct her mail to that folder.
You can also download and use Pop3 Scan MailBox and use it to connect with your mail server to delete messages directly from the server before you connect with OE. This program works great for us.
If you post to newsgroups and have the correct email address in your settings, this will also bring in tons of junk mail. I mung up my Reply To address in my newsgroup settings so that email harvesters cannot get my correct address.

Hi, I had the same problem and finally blew my top one day and downloaded "Spamkiller"...AND I LOVE IT. At first, while you are setting filters and getting used to it its a PIA...but once you get the thing set up its wonderful....And you can read your mail directly from the server thru Spamkiller and if you aren't sure what something is you get to see it first before you download anything to your computer. You can download ONLY what you want, and delete the rest...It puts spam as you filter it into a "Kill" folder. I researched several and this was highly recommended by the Top Computer Mags...You can try it free for 30 days before purchasing for 29.95. This includes frequent updates....when I first started using it, as I said, I wasn't sure but now I think I will buy it when the trial is over.....the address is:
Are you saying your "pre-read" mail on the web, and then eliminate any Spam before it comes to your mail box?
I can do that now through my local ISP, it provides web mail service also, but I would just like to eliminate so much coming in, period.
I "THOUGHT" someone once mentioned a "alarm" or some type of system, which let you know if some site was trying to obtain your address, etc. while one was on line. I think that is what I am looking for.
I have BLOCKED hundreds of addresses via Outlook Express but it seems they spamers just think up new ones every day.

Zone alarm works well, perhaps that was the "alarm" you were mentioning. It's available here: http://www.zonelabs.com/
