I have been reading all these threads and realized there is so much expertize and knowledge here with all of you participants. So I would like some advice from the "full-timers".
I'm wondering if I should "retire" from the working world out here and join the ranks of full time "Ebayers". How did you decide to go full time and how did you decide what to sell?

Personally I would keep the full time job and do ebay at night. I have 5 kids and have to stay home and do Ebay. The profits are not the same as when I first started 3 years ago. There are MANY slow times when you do not make hardly anything. Especially from June to mid September. If I could work now I would and do Ebay for some extra cash there is just no way from week to week to know if you will make much. If you sell big ticket items then maybe you could do this, but I sell mostly small items under $100 and most times under $30. Just can't make enough and I do spend a lot of time at it and do know what items sell for me. Just my opinion I am sure others might tell you different. Also ebay would be fun to just do as a 2nd income when you feel like doing it not depending on it.

Basically, you all are telling me to keep the day job!! That is probably good advice! I have heard from other people that summer sales drop off so now would not be a good time to start anyway. I guess I needed to hear it from people who are really in the know! Thanks!

I do the real job from 7-3 and ebay from 4-11 and would love to do ebay full time....but... Could I really do without the medical insurance and other benefits the real job gives me?
Just some things to ponder while making your decision.

I want to do it full time...I'd love to do it full time...but unless your field of sales is massive and full of high ticket items (unlike mine, though I do have some gems I will be placing up for bid soon), and you can afford to pay your own insurance, I would advise to keep it part time for extra money.
