I'm both a buyer/seller but now I'm speaking as a buyer. I decided I want a good-quality down comforter. Knew exactly what I wanted. The stores/catelogs I checked all wanted lots of money. Checked eBay, found a brand-new BETTER one for 2/3'rds the money. Good seller, great feedback - I'm very happy. And I assume the seller is making some money since she sells quite a few of these.
Also, I collect Star Trek/old science fiction books. I used to go to flea markets/yard sales/etc. to try and find some of the older ones I had missed. Now I have eBay. I buy most of my clothes on eBay.
Yeah, I've had a couple of bad experiences but overall it's been great!!

I'm with you there. I primarily look for two kinds of items on eBay - one has gone through the roof, but the other is often listed very poorly (thank the goddess for sellers who don't understand the "keyword" logic), and I've gotten a few very nice pieces on eBay for very reasonable prices.
As a seller, it's like any other job in that when there's a bad day, I rant about eBay like I used to rant about my boss. Just harmless venting, because I seem to always come back.

I love ebay too. It has made our life a lot easier with bringing some extra income and of course after I started selling off my collection of books, I started rebuying some other types of books and became a " collector " also. Nice hobby if I can keep it into perspective! hard to do after packing all weekend!
