I think I've read enough about this to be
reasonably sure this will be OK, but I wanted
to inquire here since I'm still a mite
uneasy. I had an auction end for which the
bidder paid by Paypal. The transaction
details indicate that he is a "verified
sender". However, the email I got from
Paypal said that since he did not include
a confirmed address, the payment was
"pending" and I need to accept or decline.
The bidder has good solid feedback and also
sells some expensive items from time to time.
I emailed them and they said that since they
would be out of town this week, they wanted
me to send to their storage place. And
indeed, the requested address for delivery is
a storage facility. However, the way I read
all the mumbo-jumbo around this, I would be
left out in the cold in the event of a
chargeback. But then I re-checked the details
of the Paypal payment and the source of
funds was "instant transfer". Which seems to
eliminate the potential of a chargeback,
am I correct? I don't want to anger this
bidder but I also do not want to leave
myself open to any problems. The bidder
requests UPS shipment and I would want to
require adult signature.
Thanks for your input and for a great discussion board!

Even if he signs for it, he could still claim later that it wasn't he that charged it if he gives you a different address than what he has at paypal.

FYI -This may have something to do with your situation or not.
I am a verified Paypal member. I verified through a bank account. The problem is that in order to have your address show up as verified you have to provide a credit card. I refuse to use my credit card as a form of identification. So even though I am a verifed member, I have no verified address. I end up having to explain this to too many sellers.
I really wish they would fix this!!

If you are paid via credit card, then there is the worry that the buyer will do a charge back. If you are paid in any other way, the buyer can't do a charge back. However, they can still contact paypal and make a complaint. If you ship to a different address, you might lose. However, in this case the buyer has NO address, probably because they never attached a credit card to the account. If the buyer has good feedback, I would think you have no reason to worry. Also, if you empty your Paypal account, the only worry you can possible have is the buyer claiming fraud and Paypal freezing that amount from your future payments. So you have to decide how great you believe this possibility to be. You might also email [email protected] and give him the info. He can't give you info on the other party, but he can tell you if the account is active and in good standing, which would pretty much indicate that it is not fraudulent.
