New problem..when I tried listing today, the words from the previous page disappear when I go back after I preview my auction! I have to start all over. I had this happen about two yers ago with Ebay, but have had no problem since then. It happens with Internet Explorer and AOL. Can anyone give me some insight?

annekila,

I am experiencing the same damn problem. Last time this occurred was about six months ago. I think it has to do with the java scripting of the page. eBay must have changed it. All I know is, it's a huge inconvenience. What a delay it causes if I find an error in my preview and have to go back to change it -- I not only have to wait for the page to reload but I have to reenter all my information.

Anyone have a fix? Blanche? Help!

I've had this happen too. What I do is hit my forward button again and it usually comes back and then I list my item and go back and do revisions. The first time it happened, I panicked.

annekila,

Glad to hear you're back up to speed. Unfortunately I'm still having the problem and it's putting a serious dent in my ability to list. So much wasted time now if I have a mistake. I have to go back, wait for the Sell Item page to load, then fill it out again.

I don't understand why eBay constantly screws around with things. Everything was working fine for me up until about two days ago. I didn't change any of the settings on my computer or my browser, went about business as usual -- but now suddenly I'm stuck with this problem of my information vanishing every time I hit the back button.

It's aggravating as hell.

Hi spaz and annekila. I'm on my way to bed but wanted to make a quick response to your post. I think the problems you're having are related to Java scripting. Spaz, did you check to see if you have the Microsoft Java Machine turned off in the ADVANCED section of INTERNET TOOLS? Try disabling ALL of the SCRIPTING options in TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS - SECURITY - INTERNET - CUSTOM LEVEL.

Also, check to see if you have the TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES in IE,s TOOLS set to "Every time you start Internet Explorer" and then empty your Temporary Internet Files before you start listing.

You also might want to try using the old "Sell Your Item" page located here:
http://cgi5.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ListItemForSaleShow

If none of these suggestions work let me know and we'll try something else tomorrow.

Hi Blanche,

I remembered to switch off java scripting in my browser because that's what worked when you helped me with another problem some months ago.

However, I tried it this time again and did everything else you suggested, with no success.

No matter which sell form I use, the info vanishes between the sell page and the verification page.

eBay did something to the pages in the last few days to cause this. Everything was running fine, then bang! Problems.

Any ideas? It has already cut my listing ability in half due to sheer inconvenience and time consumption.

Thanks.

Spaz, can you tell me what version of IE and Windows you're using?

I forgot to ask the amount of MB you have allocated for your cache in TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES, SETTINGS.

Edited to add: Did you try enabling the ACTIVE SCRIPTING option? Also, do you have all of the SAFE ACTIVE X CONTROLS set to PROMPT? Since eBay has been screwing around with the dreaded Java scripting you may have to allow Active Scripting in order to go back to the previous page. If that's the case, be sure you turn it off when you aren't listing on eBay because this function can cause viruses, Trojans and worms to run on your system and is a general security risk.
