I have been lurking for awile just soaking up all your wisdom and info, finally have a situation I need all of your expert advice.
Just ended an auction with baby furniture which clearly stated was delivery to my local City only. These items are not boxed and will be truck delivered.
Winning bidder responds to WBN with the note that she lives 400 miles away and was sure that I did not really mean my local delivery only. I have responded to her with a notice that the auction clearly stated the delivery terms and to box and ship would be an additional $50 which would probably not even cover it. This of course makes the item quite expensive, the reason I offered local delivery only to begin with.
What do you do in this situation?
Thanks for the advice

Hi, I would tell her again the terms stated in the auction and tell her that's what she agreed to when she placed her bid. If she had any questions about delivery she should have contacted you BEFORE she placed her bid, NOT AFTER!
If she wants the item bad enough tell her to drive the 400 miles and pick it up! Otherwise, I'd file for my NPB & FVF's, relist the item and NEG her for failure to abide by the auction's terms.

I think you were very nice to give her the $50 price - I'd have charged her 50c/mile.
While hindsight is 20/20, if you have very large items to list, you might want to state clearly (not that you didn't) that you're willing to deliver this within an X mile radius of Yourtown, USA, but than any further is the responsibility of the winning bidder.
