Maybe I am not presenting this right but PLEASE bare with me. I and Im quite sure so do others browse our fellow ebayers sites searching, shopping, if not just looking to see whats' out there in the ebay world. As I travel through on a daily basis the ebay community I run across some unique sites where people have taken their time and really put some nice graphics on their sites, now I would like to know how do you design and if what is the code for adding wallpaper designs to your auction sites? Pleas help.

I want my site to really look nice too!

DON"T DO IT
Excessive graphics, pictures, wallpaper, and animated GIFs slow down your auctions loading, Ebay in general and do little to attract bidders.

Keep your auctions crisp and clean, as an avid buyer and seller, nothing is more annoying then loaud paper or graphics.

Concentrate on keeping clean auctions with clear pictures focused, cropped, and neat.
Just my $.02

Forget the wallpaper....
Spend more time with the following html tags:

<p> - paragraph
<br> - line breaks

Unordered lists (great fo breaking down measurements, colors, shipping details etc)
<ul>
<li>put a word or item here
<li>then here
</ul>

Leave the wallpaper to the "About Me" page.

If you are feelin' snazzy...make a table with background colors.

Remember not everyone has a cable or dsl modem.

I agree with everything said above, but if you want to give it a whirl, you can't beat this site for HTML info and training:

To be honest, I find most auctions/web sites with wallpaper very difficult, sometimes impossible, to read.

Okay, so I'm over 40 and my near vision is shot. But hey, I'm in my peak earning years and have lots of money to spend.

I just can't spend it where there's wallpaper.

Time is money! Slow loads = I'm movin' on! I like it when others use bad judgement. I make more money. Don't do it.

Agree and disagree here. I personally dislike (a BUNCH!) those auctions where the seller has managed to reconfigure the 'background' for the entire auction page. But, I like a nice, clean, but interesting presentation in the 'description' area. And I think the "interesting" often includes the use of tables, backgrounds in tables, modified fonts (colors, sizes, etc.) as well as strategic and creative layout of pictures and text that you can achieve with HTML.

On the other hand, music files and animated gifs do nothing for an auction, in my view, except slow it down.

Pic3kett,

I too wanted to add wall paper and graphics, and couldn't understand why some of big full time sellers don't use them. Then someone filled me in. They slow down loading. I don't use any wall paper, sounds, graphics, links other than for my picture. I have been using counters, but I will be leaving those out in the near future.

Now I make sure that my layout is clean, and fills in all of the "blanks." I list sizes, condition, shipping and packing info, etc. I also check my spelling (something I don't do here) and make sure that my pictures are clear, clean, and cropped. I do use red printing to make parts stand out. The html code is <font color=red> Text to be read </font>
