SINCE MOST BANKS HAVE TAKEN A HIT WITH THE PRIME LENDING RATE AT AN ALL TIME LOW.....THEY HAVE MADE UP SOME OF THIS REVENUE BY CHARGING A SERVICE FEE ON EVERY THING THEY DO.....MY BUSINESS ACCOUNT WHERE ALL MY EBAY MONEY GOES HAS A SERVICE FEE OF $7.00 INCOMING WIRE AND A $10.00 FEE OUTGOING WIRE....WHEN YOU PAY PAYPAL WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD ...ALL YOU ARE DOING IS DUMPING YOUR MONEY IN THEIR BANK ACCOUNT.....AFTER YOUR MONEY IS DEPOSITED .....THEY SEND EMAIL BACK AND FORTH FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER...TRADING THEIR MONOPOLY MONEY.....WHILE ALL THE TIME THE REAL CASH IS STILL SETTING IN THEIR ACCOUNT......PAYPAL ARE BETTING YOU ARE TO STUPID OR GET FED UP WITH PAYING THE BANK FEES AND WILL LEAVE "YOUR" MONEY IN "THEIR" UNINSURED,UNREGULATED AND WHAT SOME FINANCIAL EXPERTS HAVE CALLED"HIGH RISK CYBER SPACE ACCOUNT".. NOW WITH MILLIONS OF DOLLARS THAT DOESN'T BELONG TO THEM THEY CAN NOW INVEST YOUR MONEY...WITH OUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE .......IF THEY GO BANKRUPT ...YOUR MONEY IS GONE.. IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME LOOK AT THIS .....THIS WAS TAKING RIGHT OFF PAYPALS TERMS OF USE PAGE.. .# 17....Not a Bank. You acknowledge that (i) the Service is not a banking service (ii) Service accounts are not insured by any government agency of any nation, (iii) the Service is not subject to banking regulations and (iv) PayPal will invest in liquid assets and that interest earned on those assets will be the property of PayPal. ..SO THE TRICK IS TO NOT LEAVE ANY MONEY IN THE PAYPAL ACCOUNT...THIS MAY WORK WELL WITH EBAY SELLERS WHO HAVE LOTS OF PROFIT IN THEIR STUFF...THEY CAN HAVE A BUYER SEND PAYPAL THE MONEY.....THEN TAKE IT OUT REAL QUICK AND PAY THE BANK CHARGE.......BUT WITH SELLERS LIKE ME....WHO HAVE A VERY LITTLE PROFIT MARGIN.IT IS NOT COST AFFECTIVE....NOW.. I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SAYING "BUT JUMPIN..PAYPAL WILL MAIL YOU A FREE PAYPAL CHECK FOR THE CASH THAT IS IN YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT SO YOU WONT HAVE TO PAY ANY BANK FEES" YES THIS IS TRUE, BUT UNLESS THEY SEND ME A CHECK FASTER THAN THE AUCTION WINNER ( WITCH I DOUBT BECAUSE IT'S NOT IN THEIR BEST FINANCIAL INTEREST) THERE IS STILL NO ADVANTAGE TO THE SELLER AND YOU STILL HAVE TO SUPPLY THEM WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO RECEIVE THEIR CHECK...IF YOU ARE BOTH BUYING AND SELLING AND DON'T NEED ACCESS TO YOUR MONEY.....IT MAY WORK WELL FOR YOU... ITS A GREAT DEAL FOR PAYPAL....WISH I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF IT....BUT UNTIL THEY ARE A MEMBER OF FDIC ,STATE REGULATED AND EVEN RECOGNIZED BY EBAY.. JUMPIN ADVISES YOU TO GIVE IT SOME THOUGHT....BEFORE FUNDING ONE OF THESE ACCOUNTS...PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PASS THIS VITAL INFORMATION ONTO FRIENDS,FAMILY OR ANYONE WHO LACKS FINANCIAL SAVVY.. PEACE

I guess you are with the wrong bank then as our bank does not charge a fee for transfers.

We tranfer weekly and there are no fees. Over 85% of our customers pay with paypal - so I would be shooting myself in the foot not accepting them.

It's not true for much longer- soon, there will be a charge to have a check mailed to you.

My banks also don't charge me any fees for Paypal transfers - in fact I"ve used it as an easy way to transfer funds between banks without having to make a trip out to do so manually, and its great!

Transfers between PayPal and a bank account (in either direction) are not wire transfers. They are ACH (Automated Clearing House) transactions. ACH transactions are usually free to the customer. If yours isn't you should give serious consideration to finding another bank. This isn't a PayPal issue, it's a bank issue.

Here's my GOOD PAYPAL ADVICE:

1) If ya like it...USE IT!

OTOH...

2) If ya don't like it... DON'T USE IT!

It seems to me that PP works GREAT 99.9% of the time for 99.9% of users -- the problem is: when PP DOESN'T WORK RIGHT, it can be a real MESS!

I offer it because I feel that I HAVE TO OFFER IT, in order to remain competitive!

So I give EQUAL BILLING & PROMOTION on my auctions to PP & BP & c2it!

Interesting trend: JAN 2001...90%=PP/10%=BP
APRIL 2001...50/50

It looks to me like Bp has been striving to avoid PP's gaffes! PP needs to become more aggressively GOOD!

jumpinjacko that is a wonderful profile you made, and it proves sellers dont need paypal to do business. I am going to have a friend make me up a profile like that. SO many people are being ripped off by online payments, and its easily avoidable.

My apologies jumpinjacko. I never had a businessman explain to me that PayPal deposits were wire transfers. Thanks for passing on your expertise.

Who said the message board weren't a wealth of information?

Remember ASCII art, the way old kind, back in the line printer days, when a picture was created by printing some character at each location on the page? Clever people created nudes?

Hats off to jumpinjacko, nice job slipping it past the censors.
