Check out the NEW user agreement that goes into effect on 6/01

Section 5 now provides that BillPoint can access your eBay registered credit card to debit refunds, chargebacks and other BillPoint fees.

The plot/noose tightens.

This is not really new and its not a dirty little secrect I have been useing billpoint for over a year now it has always worked this way.

they send payments directly to my checking account and if there is a charge back it will come out of your credit card registered with ebay.

also they dont need to deduct fees for useing billpoint from your credit card as the fees are taken from the payment before they deposit in your checking.

it has always been this way !!! at least for the last year or more

When you register with Billpoint, don't you have to provide a credit card? It was like that when I registered more than a year ago.

I believe they mean *that* credit card, and not the one registered with ebay.

No when I registered just over a year ago to billpoint they used all my info from my ebay Registration and the only thing they asked for was my Checking account information and a securty password different then my Ebay password.

Odd!

If what Dman says is true, then why did eBay feel it necessary to re-write the BillPoint User Agreement, effective 6/1/01?

Something certainly doesn't add up.

More then likely they are rewriteing them to clarify things for there instant billpoint payment option.

there are two different groups that use billpoint and ebay Buyers and sellers.

under normal curcumtances buyers can register but dont need to verfiy with a credit card.

But if you want to use billpoint or instant payment buyer now need to register and give a credit card number to ebay.

use to be if you were a buyer and wanted to pay through bill point you just gave the CC number to billpoint not to ebay .

I have done 2 refunds for items paid for through BP in the past year. I was notified by eBay that a debit would be made to my checking account and to be sure I had sufficient funds on a specific date to cover the debit.

I think eBay is just making sure they will get their money, one way or the other. If you don't keep enough in your bank account, they will just charge your cc. Or perhaps due to banking regulations, it's harder for them to direct draft than to charge your cc??
