Hi Folks
I have an old netsuke It was traded for by the original owner in 1933, this is the jpeg url if you might have time to look.
I have tried to get an answer from e-appraisals they have technical difficulties
I wont be able to stay for an answer, I will come back later and look see.
Thanks in advance....Fudd
I am far from an expert, but I've had a few of these. It is impossible to tell much from a photo...they've been reproduced for quite a while, with varying degrees of quality.
The only thing that jumped out at me from the picture, is that the carving is quite crude. The ones I've handled have been very intricate in detail. This is not to say that yours isn't right, but it gives me some pause.
My advice would be to take yours in to a local museum and have them evaluate it. If it is authenticated as genuine...you can go from there.

It's a netsuke, because you can see the holes for the cords.
At issue is the value of the netsuke, which depends on age and artistic merit: yours is clearly old, but the carving lacks detail and the subject matter is not interesting. that puts it in the low-$$ ranks of netsuke.
