I believe this to be eBay's stupidest move so far. Why? 1. Like it or not, the 3rd Reich period in Germany is part of world history, and people should be freely allowed to collect its relics. 2. Neo-Nazis and punks don't wear $1,000 German helmets. 3. Communism in Russia killed a hundred times more people than the Nazis ever did - shouldn't the Soviet items and the symbol of the red star be also banned? Shame on you, eBay! That's what comes from yelding to the pressure of those yappy special interest groups. But you have already punished itself by losing all that nice percentage from the sale of expensive WW2 German memorabilia. No problem, German militaria sellers will happily go elsewhere...

I agree with you. Believe that Ebay has backed off on this a bit. My brother has been collecting these item since he was a child during WW2, also Japanese items. A bunch of "jerks" buy guns and they don't ban them. Some of those diet pills for sale are killers. Too many rules and laws imply that we are idiots. Believe that a lot of this "overseeing" is caused by folks trying to get brownie points into heaven.

Preacher -
Make it 10X instead of 100X and it's true. Stalin's agricultural policies and forced labor camps killed off 30+ million people. it's not a pretty part of Sovient history

OI got an idea !!! Let's ban all images and objects portraying Christ on the cross. I mean after all, isn't that promoting violence?

Okay....let's ban everything that has to do with cars...so many americans are killed each year!!!!
Wait!!!!....let's ban books because there are ideas that may promote independent thought and free will!!!!
ahem...I am not sure it's so wrong to ban glorified hate items, however, there are a lot of decimated populations due to intentions that may not seem so overtly evil. Seem.
Ian Frazier's On the Res and Great Plains are eye opening, great reads and ironically, hopeful.
So who's to decide?
I find some of the evangelical items for sale pretty appalling. What's been done in the name of God makes the Holocaust paltry (read up on the crusades).
Don't take what I say out of context. Medieval man knew his place in the world. Maybe 20th century man should have and that's where the deep tragedy lies.
So, I will come down on the side of the ban. As much as I may joke, it's not a society that altogether understands the historical context.

Again, it's just my opinion but I am getting sick and tired of the "system" trying to contol our thoughts. In nature for example, for every 1000 apples that fall there is probably at least one worm. In society we have these worms also. Hitler, Manson, ect. So does nature try to shield the other 999 apples from being infected by the worm ? I find this form of thinking an insult to my intelligence. If I'm a bad apple, I'm going to rot whether anyone tries to prevent it or not. Nothing can stop it. If I'm a good apple, that will show as well. We think we're getting smarter but we're actually getting dumber.

Just one more thought...... That great Beatle George Harrison once sang " The more I learn, The less I know, So take a piece of my too much......."

eBay's recent policy change should be a wakeup call for all of us. I for one will not limit all of my resources to a single site (monopoly) ever again. I will use several sites, not just one.
Militaria Collectibles Auction Haus has been up and running and shows promise.

What will be the alternative for Ebay?
Where do WWII-item-sellers go to noe?
Except for www.militaria-collectibles.com?

There are plenty of other auction sites (Yahoo, for example, which (as far as I know) bans only the postwar replicas of the Nazi stuff), not to mention militaria dealers' websites. The word of mouth travels fast in collectors' circles. It happened with guns after eBay banned them, it will happen now... More financial losses to eBay.
