I just got an e-mail from a bidder who said she BIN'd one of my auctions and it didn't end. The particular auction to which she is referring has actually had a bid on it for a couple of days. I'm almost positive I read either here or on another board that eBay had reported that some sellers were saying their auctions weren't ending properly with BIN. I'm guessing that the BIN was still showing even after the other bidder had placed the initial bid and this person came along after and tried to BIN it even though it had a bid. She e-mailed me to complain that she was unable to BIN, but when I checked it out (of course) the BIN is gone.

Clear as MUD??

Anyway, I've looked and searched for a thread that mentions this occuring and haven't had any luck. Anyone care to point me in the right direction?

Of course, there is also the possibility that she is misunderstanding the bidding process but I doubt it as she has 116 FB. Not exactly a newbie.

Any info would be appreciated.

The BiN option will disappear when the first bid is placed if the bidder does NOT use BiN option...
BiN will stay there if you post an auction with a reserve and a BiN...Bin disappears when the reserve is met or the Bin amount is bid...
Clear as "Mud"... )

Hi MRBucks...thanks for the response. I know how it's supposed to work but I'm positively certain that I saw a reference within the last few days that some sellers were reporting (to eBay) that buyers were using BIN but it wasn't ending the auctions properly. I only frequent these boards and one on eBay so it was either here or there I saw the report. I was hoping someone had seen it.

Of course, there's always the other possibility that I'm hallucinating. Stranger things have happened.

I had a similar incident a few weeks ago ~ a non-newbie e-mailed saying that were having a problem using BIN. The auction had a bid on it for a few days already. I didn't think much of it until your thread.
I believe the "glitch" is that during a search, the BIN symbol remains next to the title although a bid may have been made and BIN is actually no longer available.
Does that make it ClearAsMud

Hi ClearAsMud!

Thanks! At least I know I am not alone. I'm going to track this down if it is the end of me. I am narrowing my sights, as I have eliminated the EO as having had a thread on it and I searched through an eBay related mailing list with no results. That leaves a board on eBay...maybe someone there will remember.

Oh, by the way, didn't mean to invoke you personally but thanks for the post.
