Any seller whose auction page downloads gifs and powerseller logos before the picture of the item, is a moron.
Are people so bored with their situation in life that they are compelled to pretend they're in show business or something? Why the big show on the auction page? I don't know anyone at all who isn't annoyed with this nonsense, no less entertained by it.

I totally agree. When I see and hear all this (including fireworks), I immediately hit the BACK BUTTON--AND MOVE ON QUICKLY!!

Yesterday I was looking at an auction that had so much stuff, like power logo, their large business logo, a long TOS with warnings and short description of item that I realized I was leaving the auction without having seen a picture of the item. There was one....waaay down at the bottom like it was an after thought! LabRat4gmos.

I don't like waiting for all that stuff to download either. One time I did wait and wait for the pic to load because I reallllyy wanted this item. The pic finally finished loading and it was a giant logo for their antique store! I never did find a pic of the item (there were birds flying, power seller logos flashing, geese a laying and pipers a piping) So, I just went away disappointed. Oh well.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!
People and their mountains of rules like they are some big huge operation kill me.
And then you get this tiny DARK pic of the actual offering.
Oy Evay!
I keep it simple and bid on auctions that do the same.

My personal faves are the auction listings where the GIANT powerseller logo loads and then the rest of the pictures pop up as that annoying little box with the red X in it!
Is there some kind of contest among powersellers to see who can have the biggest PS logo on their listing? I'm no longer one so I'm not up to date on what's cool among the group?
On to more annoyances...
How about that neon rainbow background where you can't read ANYTHING in the listing.
Better yet, dark green or navy blue backgrounds with black writing that nearly blends into the background. How can you even make out your own auction listings when they look like this?
Why a seller would even waste their time taking and posting a dark picture is beyond me - I'm talking about the pictures that are so dark you can't even make out an outline of the object being sold.
I'm by no means perfect and I'm sure I have put something on my auction listings that is annoying but there is such a thing as GIF OVERKILL and I'm wondering why people don't see it?

I emailed a guy and said I would like to bid but the fabric image is too dark to make out.
I kindly requested a lighter image.
His response?
'sorry,it looks fine to me... must be your computer'
~~~~~~~~~HELLO!
I have a state-of-the-art monitor...I know DARK when I see it.
Dang, these ignoramus' tick me off.
How about the power seller who had a picture of there
"Face" show up first, then all the "Rules" then there
"Face" again....then shipping rules, you name it, and it was
on the page, Like I care to see this face pop-up.....
When I finially got to the picture I could not make it out....
To them this is some big trip that they are on, "When will
they be landing?.....Just to set the records straight.......
This is only a few of the sellers, There are lots of very
good listing that power sellers put up..But in my opion
there is way to much stuff to read, and too many Rules!!!
AMEN to this post......I had posted a similar complaint about a month or so ago on almost the exact same thing. It does not take a rocket scientist to read a help file on the photo editing program and learn to lighten it up.....grrr. But my big gripe to add to this is the recent spate of NO DESCRIPTIONS..... .....I see the giant logos....the HUGE list of TOS etc and if there IS a description...its usually a one liner that tells me nothing. No measurements, condition of item (which one can't tell because the pic is toooo dark) etc...but they usually end up with a "Bid with confidence" speech......Yea right!! I high tail it out of those auctions. If you can't tell me anything about it or provide a useable pic then don't impress me with your LOGOS....There, I feel better.....
Yes! I was browsing beetle auctions and one guy had this VW background that was SO bad that you could not even read the text or see the photos. I sent him a note letting him know this and mentioned that I might bid on it if I could see it better (and that this was probably the reason why it was sitting there with no bids as it was). Thought he would either fix it or maybe even take a second and email a quick note back to me-- but NOTHING.
Bells and whistles do not impress on on an auction. I just want to see what I am buying so this is my goal when I list them too.
Thanks for the good topic!
i never have understood the deal with the powersellers logo. in every ps auction i've seen, it loads first, and it's BIG. what's the point? as a buyer, it doesn't particularly impress me or make me feel any more confident in buying from a powerseller than from someone who isn't, but has a nice chunk of positive feedbacks. i just want to see a decent photo and read the description! if anything, seeing that big logo load first makes me think the seller either never was a buyer, or has lost touch with what it is a buyer wants.
fortunately, i havent come across an auction with a self-loading midi file in a long time. that made me back out faster than anything!
Ah, my favorite gripe. It burns my buns when:
1. The TOS is longer than the item desription
2. the page is full of cute animated gifs, but lousy pictures (and the ratio of how lousy the picture is to how much money the seller wants for the item is in exact proportion!)
3. MUSIC on the page - I can't back out of those fast enough!
I emailed a seller about an item I was interested in and told her (him) that the title sounded interesting but I was an older lady and couldn't make out the pale green text on green background. I'd tried adjusting the brightness of my display, little help. (I didn't even complain about the elaborate lace, bows, pond, geese and flowers in the background 'wallpaper').
She emailed back, "sorry, everyone seems to like it!" and didn't even take the time to paste ANY info in her reply! Honestly, I could NOT read the description...... and when I checked back after auction it had no bids. Quite a puzzle that foo-foo is more important than dollar signs.
just Mom's opinion
All of the above plus one of my big gripes :
1. The comet cursor!!! I hate those stupid things following my cursor when I'm trying to look at an item. I just hit back now.
I read this post this morning and then went to ebay and did one of my regular search's I saw a item I was intersted in and clicked
First power seller emblem
Second long tos threating all kinds of nasty things would happen if he didn't receive payment in 7 days
third a bio of him and his business
Fourth a link to his other auctions
FINALLY a two word descrption of the item saying "see picture"
Picture was grainy and out of focus.!!!!
or better yet I saw one the other day almost same as above but this guy just says for a descrption call Joe at 1 800 xxx xxxx
So he gives my the item name, no picture ,and I need to call to get any info
WHAT ARE THESE FOLKS THINKING..or are they ?
