Every day I pick up my auction payments at my
local mail box center. It is not the post office. I received a note from the manager stating that effective 8/1 US Postal Service will institute new regulations regarding mail received at any private mailbox. It now must say PMN #.
I have no problem sending payments to a p.o box but I wonder if other people have a problem with it. What do you think?

Many people can only receive their mail through a post office box. I guess a lot of people aren't aware that in small towns, you don't always receive home delivery.
The last two places I have lived did not deliver to your home. We have to go to the post office every day to pick up our mail. So all my address has is a PO box and no one (eBayers) ever seems to have a problem with that. It's just how it is done is small town America! HTH...
Edited for clarity...

I understand this to mean that the new regulations WILL NOT apply to mail sent to a post office box, only mail sent to a private (MBE, etc.) mailbox. Is this correct? If so, I don't understand your question. Many sellers (myself included) already have all of their auction payments sent to a post office box with no ill effects.
Did you intend to ask if buyers would hesitate to send payment to a private mail box (as opposed to a regular PO box)? Or are you implying that you will switch to a regular PO box when the new regs take effect and you are concerned about the possible consequences?

dubyasdaman: Some people do not want to mail their payment to a box. We used the word suite in our address. My employer wants me to have the payments send to my home now. I said no way. I have enough trouble receiving my mail. It always ends up at the "Naked Neighbors house."

Where I live we use "PMB". I have a PMB mailing address and haven't had any problems. Anyway it would take a lot of problems to override the fact that it is much better than giving out my home address!
PS...I have been using the PMB designation in my mailing address for a year without problems.

Understood. I have always used a PO Box with no complaints at all, not even one.
I have a friend who sells from her web site only (no ebaY). Her payment address has a "made up" street address, something like this:
Excellent Seller
125 Lakeside Dr.
Box 1234
City, State, Zip
There IS NO Lakeside Dr. in our town. And according to the post office it wouldn't matter if there was one. She would still get the mail in her PO box. The explanation that the post office provided to her is that the mail sorters at the post office read the address from the bottom up. So whatever is on the line above the City, State, Zip is where the mail will be delivered. If there is a box # listed on that line, the street address isn't even read.
You might want to verify that YOUR post office does it the same way but this might work well for you too. She has been doing it this way for over 3 years with no problems. I thought about doing it but just a PO box address works fine so I don't.
