This announcement was made in March, according to the UPS employee publication "Inside UPS". It may have already been discussed on these boards but I missed it. My son works for UPS and this publication was headed for the trash. I just happened to notice the announcement.
UPS has announced an acquisition of Mail Boxes Etc. that will allow the two companies to develop new opportunities in such areas as small business services, e-commerce, and financial services. With more than 4,300 retail locations, including nearly 900 centers in 29 countries around the world, MBE offers a broad array of business services, products, and shipping alternatives. Together, UPS and MBE will target a growing segement of retail customers, including Internet customers, small office/home office owners, and an increasingly mobile, technology-connected workforce.
I have always found MBE to be a little pricy. I hope they lower the prices and make MBE more attractive to the average guy.

I have a distant cousin who went bankrupt after purchasing a company like Mail Boxes Etc. I think the Post Office is making a BIG mistake, but what elese is new?
