I read the following in an auction newletter. I would imagine eBay would not allow any of us to do this. What do you think??

"Olympic tickets to be auctioned off"

Olympic organizers plan to sell some tickets for next year's Winter Games in February during an online auction May 21.

The auction will be held on eBay and organizers are hoping to sell 100 tickets for several times their face value of $90 to $450. More eBay auctions will follow if the first one drives up prices, Salt Lake Organizing Committee president Mitt Romney said. Romney said the committee had about 1,000 seats for auction and hopes to raise as much as $1 million for them.

From what I have gathered they did alot of underhanded things just to get the Olympic Games so I suppose the money they lost they have to make it up somewhere and why not ebay. Everyone makes money on ebay
I wish no one would bid on them but I think that is out of the question, they will go like hot cakes.

Actually there are a number of states & jurisdictions which allow the resale of tickets for more than the face value & it's not considered "scalping".

ebay does have a policy regarding the resale of "event tickets". Utah apparently doesn't have any restrictions on the resale of tickets.

Pretty amazing since those people who purchased package tickets to the 2002 Olympics (through the Olympic lottery system) last fall were told that the unwanted tickets could not be sold to third parties for more than face value.....

I've never been able to understand why people get so twisted out of shape over the reselling sports or concert tickets. Why do people think the concept of supply and demand should be suspended when it comes to this? A willing seller and a willing buyer agreeing on a price for a ticket? Horrors! We can't have that! Why can't somebody do something?!?
