Hey, we Golden Staters have an excuse...we're saving up to pay our retroactive power bill increases...

Until yesterday, I had some firm items in mind to buy on eBay...now they'll have to wait...

Living within my means, mostly...*G*

Don't feel too left out, CA's energy problems are just the start. It will be National before the year is out. Electric producers around the country will stampede to sell CA high priced electricity, then we'll all be coming up short. Don't forget gas prices too.

What I can't figure out is how CA had enough electricity last year, but not enough this year ?

It's beginning to look like the 1970's all over again - guess I need to start buying gold.

so, online purchases in the first quarter of this year are 20% less than the holiday shopping purchases? what a surprise!

They were still up 30% from a year ago.

"unlike retail sales, online sales are not normalized for holidays" <- key quote from article.

That article was almost useless - superficial, not controlling for things like the holdays, etc.

"suggesting the e-commerce craze may be losing steam". Hmm, I didn't realize that online shopping was a "craze". I'd be surprised if online sales decreased in the long run.

Some of my buyers have been in small towns with limited retail resources readily at hand. My daughter has had the same experience with her buyers. The ease in finding an unusual or rare object will continue to fuel e-commerce. Everyone at my "day" job that has used eBay has remained users, either to sell or to buy or both.

Why is everybody so perplexed. If you vote against those icky powerplants then there is no power. People as a herd animal are about the stupidest things on this planet. You see millionaires like Ed Begley saying everybody has to get electric cars to save the enviornment. I guess then you have to build coal-fired power plants to charge them all!!!

For every action there is a reaction.
