OK... I'm looking ahead to Memorial Day Weekend. What is everyone's feelings related to closings on that weekend? Avoid Saturday, Sunday, Monday? List as usual? I haven't made up my mind and (must be getting old) don't remember what I did last year and if it worked.

I avoid closings on ALL holiday weekends.

I'm going to be virtually closed for the week leading UP to Memorial Day, so I plan on using it for a massive listing to get me back open and going again.

I had auctions end last Memorial day weekend and it was a disaster. If I list at all, it will be tonight. Otherwise, I will wait until after MD....

When is Memorial Day?

Monday is Victoria Day here in Canada. A national holiday when almost everything is closed.

Except where I work!

Well this is my first MD, but I've been looking in the papers for auctions and around here there are a ton on Memorial Day. Seems to me they must know something! One is going to be a two estate auction that lasts all day long. Not everyone goes out of town for the holidays I guess.

Great if you are buying, not so great if you are selling.

I have gotten some great deals on holiday weekends, and I have also seen what it can do to your sales as well.

I'll spend a few minutes looking for deals, however, most all of our auctions will end in the next 2 days and resume after the long weekend.

As are most bidders gone, so we will be too!

Just my opinion and I am probably wrong.............again!

Guess I'll buck the trend. I've usually had auctions running on holidays & had pretty good success. My Easter day sales were among my best sales this year.

I figure, by late in the afternoon, everyone's sick of the family, bored with whatever's been going on or hiding out from relatives & had enough food to last a month so maybe they head to the computer to check out what's going on.

edited to add:

Not everyone has Memorial Day off. My daughter's school is open that day, so to some, it's not a holiday.

cin131,

It's a private school. Unfortunately, we had some nasty weather earlier in the school year, the school was closed unexpectedly for almost a week, so they've been making up the missed days.

They only recently started observing Memorial Day at this school, then this happens.
