My auction listings are clear. I accept personal checks and money orders in US$. My EOA contact email is clear. I accept personal checks and money orders in US$.
I just received an email that a customer has sent payment for an auction via Paypal. I do not want a Paypal account (been there, done that, not going there again). I have sent the bidder an email to let her know that I cannot/will not accept this payment. She is unhappy (and so am I), although we're both being just as polite as can be.
Is there a "great" way to deal with this sort of situation? I don't think I did.

I know many buyers prefer to pay with PayPal. I'm one of them. However, if I bid on a person's auctions that state snail-mail payment that's how I pay.
Therefore, I don't think you're expecting too much to have this person send payment via snail-mail as that's what was stated in your auction and EOA.
I do believe she should respectfully cancel the payment and send a check or money order. Now I just wish I knew how to make her see it that way.

I've yet to have a bidder who sent a payment to me by paypal cancel it and pay by the methods I accept (check and money order.) Every time I end up having to turn them in as a non-paying bidder.

Jenndiggy1 - I dropped Paypal and changed my email address so when these bidders sent their payment via paypal they can cancel it. I state in the auctions and the EOA what I take AND FOR THE FEW THAT DID TRY TO SEND IT, THEY SENT ME EITHER A PC OR MO WITH AN APOLOGY. I've not had 1 yet that refussed to send their payment.
I would with this bidder explain why you stopped taking Paypal (like I do) and they seem to understand and send their payment.
